Chapter 12: YOU WILL BE MY CONCUBINE
Mei-ling felt the sharp tip of the blade against her chin and force her to look up at him.
His face was cruel and twisted.
"What you heard me say." He said.
She swallowed heavily.
"If I hear a word of it from anyone, I would kill you." He told her.
Badum, Badum.
"I won't tell anyone your majesty." She promised.
He stared at her and then let go of the blade and returned it back to its sheath.
She gave a loud sigh of relief once the sharp blade has been removed.
"So are you going to take up my offer?" He asked her with a brow raised up.
Badum! Badum!
Her heart raced.
How was she going to decline as politely to the wicked ML's brother without being killed.
Especially now that he had reason to kill her.
She didn't want to be with the ML, but then she couldn't be with Prince Tai-hua because he was wicked and frequently beat his concubines.
Also at the end of the book, the ML had killed Prince Tai-hua.
If she stayed with Prince Tai-hua surely she would face death.
She sighed.
"Your majesty your offer is great." She said. "And I would love to be your concubine."
He smiled and then she added. "But… if you take me as your concubine, the king makers and ministers think of you? They will say that you are already planning to take over from your brother."
She knew that Prince Tai-hua didn't take over the throne out in the open but rather quietly and by buying the high ranking officials.
It had been done by both he and his mother.
He was quiet now and it seemed that her cunning sense had worked.
He seemed to be in thought.
And then after a while he said. "Fine. You may stay off until I become emperor."
She let out a breath of relief.
Prince Tai-hua couldn't believe it.
He had thought that the concubine would take his offer quickly in the blink of an eye, after all that was what women were after.
He would have ordered her to death when he was tired of her under the pretext that she had cast a spell on him.
But here she had given him an advice and she was right.
They would suspect that he was trying to take over and those who were still loyal to his step brother would report to him.
Now she was interesting to him.
No woman had ever turned him down
"But you will come to my room." He told her. "In the middle of the night I expect you to come to my room. I will send my most trusted man to call you."
She froze.
"I can't claim you as my concubine but I will still spread your legs." He said.
Mei-long's face became red.
She tried to speak but he caught her off.
"Leave. I've made my decision. I will send for you." He ordered and she shut her mouth knowing that she couldn't say a word more.
She bowed and left the room.
