Chapter 2: Bad Decisions, Part II
Izuru stood face to face with his captor, looking at him with a wicked smile as the man extended his hand.
But how did we get to this situation? Well... let's rewind a little.
Izuru was pounding and kicking the water bubble that had imprisoned him.
Every attempt to burst the bubble failed until he had an idea.
Izuru's captor watched him for a moment. After a while of hearing no attempts at resistance, he dissolved the water prison and placed Izuru on the ground to check his pulse.
As soon as he placed his hand on Izuru's chest and heard his heart beating, he relaxed, but he didn't expect the massive headbutt Izuru gave him.
Izuru quickly got to his feet and tried to flee.
A smile spread across the man's face, and he immediately raised one hand toward Izuru, who was running as fast as his legs would allow. But suddenly, Izuru felt himself moving backward; he hadn't stopped running for a second, but...
"I won't let my future King escape so easily," said his captor in a friendly tone.
Izuru was back next to the man. He was confused and somewhat dazed by his captor's words, but he didn't hesitate to prepare for a possible fight.
"I'm glad to see you're not willing to die without a fight first. You can relax; if I wanted you dead, I'd have left you trapped in that water prison."
Izuru relaxed; he could feel how vastly superior this man was. It would be better to cooperate for the moment, just to stay alive.
"Very well, kid, you made the right decision,"
said the stranger as he sat in the air; that's right, he was floating.
"My name is Rain, and I'm a god,"
He said as he began forming a ball of water in his hands.
"A god? You must have an enormous ego to call yourself a god," Izuru replied bluntly.
"At least in this dimension, I am a god."
"This dimension?"
Then it hit Izuru; it was much easier to breathe, he looked at his arms, and they were tinted blue, but what really made him wonder if he was in another dimension was the beautiful purple sky above his head.
"What the hell?! Was that water laced with drugs or hallucinogens?!" he asked, alarmed, while assuming a combat stance again.
"Hahaha! What an interesting kid. Don't you know how wavelengths work?"
Izuru's silence was enough for Rain to understand.
"Alright, I'll explain it to you.
In the context of light, the wavelength determines the color of light we perceive: shorter wavelengths correspond to colors like violet and blue, while longer wavelengths correspond to colors like red and orange.
The sky is blue due to a phenomenon known as Rayleigh scattering. Sunlight, which is white, is made up of a mix of all the colors in the visible spectrum. When sunlight passes through the atmosphere, air molecules and other small particles scatter the light in all directions.
Blue light, which has a shorter wavelength, scatters much more than red light, which has a longer wavelength. Because of this scattering, when we look in any direction in the sky (except directly toward the sun), we see more scattered blue light than other colors. That's why the sky appears blue during the day.
Here, however, sunsets can appear purple on rare occasions. I'll explain more another time."
"Hmm… Why did you kidnap me?"
"Huh?"
"You didn't bring me here just to tell me why the sky is blue, right?"
"No… I want something from you."
At that moment, the atmosphere became heavy; in Rain's eyes, a deep seriousness was apparent, causing Izuru to swallow hard.
"What do you want from me?"
A smile appeared on Rain's face. Everything around Izuru and Rain began to dissolve, and before Izuru realized it, he found himself floating in nothingness, with Rain holding him in the palm of his hand.
"You want my soul?"
"Your soul? I'm not interested. I just want you to fulfill your purpose in this world."
"What do you mean?"
"Izuru Kamubura, I want you to entertain me, I want you to show me how far a man can evolve under the tutelage of a god."
Rain's iris began to shift into a red lotus with black tips.
"I want you to become my project; you're just my whim."
"Why me? Why didn't you choose to conduct your experiment on someone from your own dimension?"
"It's simple, I was traveling between dimensions when I saw your fight with those kids, and then I saw the takedown you applied to that man. I could feel it, your body isn't normal. I'll have fun experimenting with you later. Right now, I just want to see how much you can grow."
"So, Izuru Kamubura, will you become my project?"
Izuru looked around. He was back in that situation: a group of adults stomping on him just for defending himself, and the look of helplessness as he couldn't do anything to stop them. He clenched his teeth and looked at Rain, his purple eyes turning crimson red.
"What do I have to do?"
A dark aura enveloped Izuru, and Rain could only smile broadly, his excitement growing; he had found a diamond in the rough.
Unaware that this had been Izuru's first bad decision.
