They knew that getting involved with Alexander would cost them their lives, it was like an ultimate ending, all thanks to the James siblings. They had seen firsthand what had happened at the police station. 

Nik hadn't even felt a bit of remorse about the hole being blown in the station. He only felt bad because his sister had been hurt. If Lia had been okay, he would have made fun of the security systems. That was something everyone already knew and there was nothing that they could do.
