It was yet another sleepless night.
To be a little bolder,
Is it a curse,
or finally a blessing?
It was a little tiring to always go around in circles, and now I am off to create another path. Not sure if this is the right time for this though, considering it's the critical part of my stay at our company, I even had the guts to entertain a guy. Though we are not really dating yet, I should expect that it won't be the same as before anymore.
This time I can't hide from him any longer. To be honest, I can feel a bit of excitement but offcourse there is still fear. The anxiety won't go away easily.

I went to the office early to carry on and see what I can do to help regarding the project. I slowly organized my thoughts and called on Ava for some instructions. "Ava, can you check if I can squeeze in Chairman Williams' schedule? I have things to discuss with him." There is no such thing as relatives inside the office, if I need to talk to my father, I atleast need to set an appointment with him. Hopefully, I can squeeze into it.
My phone beeped and I checked the message:
"Good morning,
what's your company address?" Felix messaged me early this morning. Why does he need it? Even though I was puzzled by his question, I still told him anyway, "It's located at O'Connell Street. You can just check the exact location on your phone right? Why do you need it anyway?" I told him sarcastically. You see, I am new to this kind of set up and I can't totally warm up to him just yet, it's my first time so I'm still adjusting.
"I just arrived at the airport, see you later!" he replied with a wink emoticon. Wait, what?! He's here? "You're joking right?" I asked him. Why would he come here suddenly?
"You'll see if I'm joking or not in a few minutes" he replied. I know it was a long flight if he really came but I do not have time for him this coming days. "Wait, I can't meet you right now. I'm currently busy as we are developing our new software. And it's quite crucial right now so I might be on meetings the whole week." I explained it to him so he won't have to come to waste his time.
"I can just wait" he answered but I do not have time to answer him as Ava already entered my office to tell me the Chairman can meet me now so I immediately stood up to meet him and left my phone at my office.

I tried to calm myself as I hold on to the door knob. After I exhaled a big one, I finally opened the door and there my dad greeted me. "You may sit" he instructed as soon as I entered his office.
"So what is it about?" he asked immediately after I settled in.
I wasted no time and started explaining to him what I was planning to do, and if it is okay for me to meet the planning and development team to discuss it as soon as possible.
"I already heard about their struggle and demanded them to give me answers within a week. If we do as you say, wouldn't that delay our project? I'm afraid our competitors will beat us if we move too slowly. The current plan was already decided during previous meetings."
"Sir I think it would cause more delay if we continue what they're currently doing. If they can pinpoint the exact problem within the day and find a solution, I wouldn't interfere. But if this continues, I don't think we'll be able to launch the software at all. There's no such thing as generic code, everything has a specific difference to make it work on various products and even one mistake might cause failure. Data on software is more complicated than it seems and I think the team already knew about the possible complications yet they still followed what has been instructed since they don't have a choice.
Nevertheless, they are all experts in this field, so I would presume that what they currently have is still useful since they have already studied it for awhile, I think we only need to revise a bit of the data depending on the product it will be used with and see if it works." I explained further. I may have sounded confident but I am actually shaking inside. It was the first time I am talking with my father with such serious matter that would affect our company, and I haven't even familiarized myself with the current team working on the project.
"Go ahead then, discuss it with them first. I'll put you in charge of this project but I need results within the week. If not, I'm afraid you'll have to be demoted to a lower position so you can learn and gain more experience. Don't disappoint me Addie." my dad said and instructed me to set a meeting immediately with the head of the planning and development team.

Few more minutes inside the room and I might faint. As soon as I went out the door, my legs gave in but I was able to hold on the door's handle. I tried to compose myself as fast as I can before anyone sees me and then walked back to my office. I asked Ava again to set a schedule for another meeting. "You can set it at 2 pm since I have to prepare first. Can you help me reproduce the papers later for the meeting?"
"Okay Ms. Addison, let me handle it." Ava politely answered.
"Thank you, you can go have your lunch now. Don't wait for the break, we'll be busy by then and I think you'll need energy for that" I instructed. Sometimes I tend to make my tone less serious around her cause she's too tensed. This girl, I don't know what to do with her.
