Chapter 98: Let's have a conversation 

 The next few days things were uncomfortable and awkward for both Asher and Pepper. 

Pepper buried herself at work, only coming home when it was absolutely necessary and even went as far as to make arrangements for Starr to join her in the office after school. Afterwards, they would go home with the child too tired to know that her parents weren't speaking to each other.

It was the perfect solution.

They only made an effort to have breakfast together and to make casual talk about boring stuff like the weather or traffic.

Asher didn't notice but whenever he wasn't looking, Pepper always watched him. She often wondered what went wrong and what she was missing. Something was broken and she couldn't fix it.
