Chapter 6: it's Not Over Yet

Valhoon's lips curved up into a smile, seeing his most trusted man and best friend with the other imperial armies. And so, the battle began. Roars echoed, and swords clanged against another. Blood and dead bodies were scattered and thrown everywhere. Valhoon's armies were slashing against the rebels, tearing them apart and fighting with everything they had.

The battle between valhoon and the vampire named Jerry was intense. Jerry was the strongest of Valhoon's trained armies and so his abilities and powers were unrivaled. Their both blade clashed against each other and the power and strike were too strong that the ground underneath them shook. Due to the poison still in his veins, Valhoon's speed lessen and he nearly lost grip of his blade but he managed to move faster, until he stood behind Jerry and struck him on the nape, causing him to roar in pain. The nape was one of the most critical parts of a vampire and so Jerry fell on the knees roaring in pain, giving Valhoon the chance to aim at his chest.

Silver bullets were aimed at Valhoon and he swiftly dodged them, jumping midair and taking down thousands of vampires with just a strike of his sword.

After the battle concluded and the rival vampires were defeated, he turned his head to stare at the ground where thousands of vampires laid, Dead. This was going to be a huge loss to Daxtan.

"Your majesty," a voice called from behind and he turned. It was his right-handed man, walking through the bodies and stepping on them to get to where he was standing with blood dripping from his clothes and sword.

"This is a massive loss Gaspher, how did these things make their plan without your notice?" Valhoon inquired, as soon as Gaspher stood in front of him.

"I don't know how they did it, your majesty. After I found out you were missing from the battlefield, I gathered the other armies and we investigated. That's how we found out. Are you alright? You were poisoned. Let's leave for the palace and I'll call the royal doctor," he replied, waving his hands and authorizing the surviving vampires to leave ahead.

"There's no need to call the doctor, I'm fine. Let's leave."

"What are we going to do with these dead bodies?" Gaspher asked.

"Throw them in the deeper part of the forest for the wild animals to feast on," Valhoon ordered, throwing his bloody sword on the ground, and began walking forward, but suddenly paused when something resurfaced in his mind. He snapped his head to look in the direction where he had left the redhead girl. He had completely forgotten about her and her existence. He strode to the spot and glanced at her. She was lying on the ground with her hair spread around her and with his golden staff on the ground near her. Is she dead? Or did the vampires do something to her? During the fight he recalled not seeing her there, then which only means she managed to cast the spell. But If she did cast the spell, why was she lying on the ground?

He squatted to touch her wrist and neck and he sighed in relief as there was a pulse. Valhoon gathered her in his arms and turned to Gaspher.

"Let's leave,"

"Who is she, your majesty?" Gaspher asked, confused. He wondered what a girl would possibly be doing in a forest, especially with the dangers in it right now.

"Oh, she's just a curious kitten I found here. She's beautiful right?" He asked smirking.

"Yes she is, but what is she doing in this forest? She smells a little like a witch. Is she?"

"Stop asking me irrelevant questions and move, I have some people to deal with," Valhoon ordered.

"Move slowly, your majesty, you wouldn't want the lady in your arms to die."

.....

They entered the palace and it was midnight. The palace was heavily guarded with vampire armies surrounding every corner and they bow as he walked past them. Valhoon opened the door of the guestroom and laid the girl on the bed. He looked at the palace maids and ordered,

"Take care of my guest and change her clothes. Make sure there are no mistakes."

He walked out of the room and ordered some guards to stand at the door. The palace needs tight security and he was not going to take chances anymore. His armies has lessen in number but that wasn't going to be a problem. He was going to monitor the remaining armies, so something like this would not happen a second time.

"Gaspher," he called.

"Y-yes your majesty."

"Bring me the traitors," he ordered but the man didn't move from his position.

"Didn't you hear me? Bring me the traitors, I need to settle some scores," he repeated.

"Y-your majesty, your uncle's body was found in his chambers this morning, he was poisoned," Gaspher informed.

"What?" Valhoon exclaimed. Who dares to poison his traitor? The man was his to kill. If he was poisoned, then that means there was another mastermind to this plan apart from his uncle and that stupid woman.

"We didn't carry his body from his bed when we found out. His body is still lying there."

Valhoon quickly walked toward his uncle's chamber in anger. He opened the door and found the lifeless body lying helplessly on the bed. He looked like he had died for more than a decade. The poison must be really strong to reduce him to this state. His body was blue and his lips were white. His dead eyes were open and were staring at the ceiling.

"Where's the other part of the staff," he turned and asked Gaspher.

"W-we couldn't find it anywhere" he answered and Valhoon's eyes widened as he rushed to open the bedside table, then the closet but he couldn't find it. "Damn you!" he roared at his uncle's body. He would have to find the golden staff.

"Take his body to the dungeons. His body would stay there forever," he yelled. Just then a scream was heard and the guards brought in a lady who was shouting at the top of her voice.

"Your majesty, they're lying against me," she said.

"They're lying? Who is? Didn't you tell me how you poisoned my drink before the battle? If they're lying, why then were you on the battleground after the battle? What am I going to do to you, huh Selene?" Valhoon asked, clenching her hair in his hand, causing her to scream.

"Please forgive me, your majesty, I am your fiance," she pleaded.

"Ohh, I forgot. I only gave you that title because it was my father's last wish, but now that you've betrayed me... I'm stripping you off that title. I'm going to make you beg for death but it would never come," he said, tossing her down with her hair.

"Lock her in the dungeons," he ordered and she laughed.

"It's not over yet, I'll be back," Selene yelled as the guards dragged her away.
