Chapter 14: Chapter 14: The Promise of an Older Brother

I'm sorry for updating a little late, I just finish my assignment which I need to send it today

So, enjoy

.....

Enji unleashes a spiral of flame, spinning clockwise with a fierce intensity. In response, Toya creates a counteracting spiral of flame, spinning counterclockwise. As the two forces collide, they neutralize each other, dissipating into thin air, even though Enji's flame holds a slight edge in strength.

Pride swells in Enji's chest as he observes his son's growth and the impressive control he has over his flames.

However, the sparring match is far from over. Enji uses his flames to propel himself forward, launching a straight punch aimed at Toya's face.

Toya, in a swift move, lets his body drop to the ground to evade the attack, catching Enji off guard. Using a similar technique, Toya creates a jet of flame on his back to propel himself upward.

As he approaches Enji, he swivels his head to the side, placing his palm on Enji's stomach. A spiral ball of flames forms under his touch.

'I hope this works,' Toya thinks to himself.

The attack generates a significant force, but this is Endeavour, who easily withstands the blast, although he does take a step back. 'Wow,' is the only word that comes to his mind after receiving the attack.

Quickly recovering, Enji grabs Toya's head and pushes him to the ground.

"You lose, but that was a great try," Enji commends, releasing his grip on Toya.

"Damn, even with that," Toya mutters, sitting up.

"Is that a new technique you've been working on?" Enji inquires, curiosity piqued.

"Yeah, but it's still incomplete," Toya admits.

"Incomplete?" Enji echoes, surprised. The technique had already delivered a powerful punch.

"Yeah, the spirals in the Rasengan only go one way," Toya explains.

"You've already named your move," Enji notes, a smile spreading across his face. Toya is indeed one step closer to becoming a hero.

"Yeah, I mean, 'spiral ball of flame' is just too long and a terrible name," Toya retorts, his tone light.

After observing Toya's unwavering stance, Enji decides it's time to confront the issue directly for the last time.

"Are you really not going to pursue being a hero?" Enji asks, his voice laced with a mix of concern and curiosity.

"No, it's not worth creating a multitude of enemies who will just escape from jail again and again. The fact that Phantom is still on the loose doesn't help either," Toya replies. "You should ask Natsuo. He seems interested in becoming a hero. Teach him. He has the passion for it, unlike me. You should be asking my siblings, not just me."

Enji absorbs Toya's words, nodding in understanding.

"Let's call it a day for training," Enji suggests, the weight of the conversation settling around them.

"Okay, see you tomorrow," Toya responds, making his way towards the dojo's exit.

However, as he opens the door, he finds Natsuo, Fuyumi, and Shoto standing there, their eyes wide with surprise.

"Why didn't you come in? No one would have been upset," Toya remarks, looking at his siblings.

Neither of them respond, but Shoto, ever the innocent child, blurts out, "Onee-chan and Natsuo-nii-chan were scared of disturbing your training, Onii-chan."

"Really, you two? I've never been mad at you, except when you steal my food," Toya teases, trying to lighten the mood.

"Onii-chan, why don't you want to be a hero? Isn't it cool to be a hero?" Shoto asks, his curiosity piqued.

"Not for me. But if you want to be one, you can. All I need is to protect the people I care about the most," Toya replies, a gentle smile on his face as he ruffles Shoto's hair.

His words touch the hearts of his siblings. He then turns to Natsuo and Fuyumi, patting their heads reassuringly.

"Remember, I'll always be there for you. That's my promise as your older brother," Toya affirms.

With that, he exits the dojo, heading straight to his room. Fuyumi and Shoto leave as well, but Natsuo stays behind, entering the dojo.

"Otou-san, will you help me become a hero?" Natsuo asks, gathering his courage.

Enji walks over to him, kneels down, and places a comforting hand on Natsuo's shoulder. "Of course, but first, you need to improve your Quirk control."

"How?" Natsuo inquires, his eyes filled with determination.

"Ask your older brother. He has more knowledge about this," Enji advises.

"Okay," Natsuo agrees, dashing off to find Toya.

Having just arrived in his room, Toya makes his bed, turns off the light, and closes the door. He flops onto his bed, getting comfortable just as Natsuo barges in without knocking, disrupting his peace.

"Aniki, can you help me with my Quirk?" Natsuo asks, his voice filled with a mix of hope and hesitation.

Toya sits up, running a hand through his hair as he studies Natsuo's face. The silence stretches on for a few seconds, making Natsuo uncomfortable under his older brother's gaze.

"Did you really have to interrupt my sleep for this?" Toya sighs, a note of exasperation in his voice.

"Umm..." Natsuo stammers, unsure of how to respond.

"What's going on, Natsuo? You don't usually barge in like this," Toya probes, his tone softening slightly.

"Otou-san said that if I want to train with him, I need to learn how to control my Quirk. He said you could teach me how to do it better," Natsuo explains, his words tumbling out in a rush.

Toya sighs again, but this time there's a hint of amusement in his voice. "Alright, I'll help you tomorrow. I'll give you some notes, but if you disturb my sleep again, I'm going to drop you from the sky."

"I understand. Have a great night's sleep," Natsuo responds, his voice filled with excitement as he closes the door softly behind him.

...

The next day, Natsuo is busily preparing for school. Just as he's about to leave, Toya hands him a piece of paper filled with instructions on how to better control his Quirk.

"Here," Toya says, his voice matter-of-fact.

"Oh, thanks, Aniki," Natsuo responds, his eyes scanning the paper.

The paper is filled with lines of text, some of which are theories about ice formation. There's also a method outlined, seemingly the simplest one for Natsuo to start with.

It suggests that Natsuo should practice creating solid ice without it breaking or melting. As he gets better, he should gradually increase the size of the ice formations.

"You should put this in a notebook or something. If you lose it, I won't help you anymore," Toya warns, his tone stern yet caring.

Natsuo's brow furrows as he reads the theory Toya has written down. It's complex, and he struggles to make sense of it.

"What is this talking about?" Natsuo mutters, his confusion apparent.

"It's about the structure and properties of ice," Toya explains, leaning over to point at the paper. "Understanding how ice forms and behaves will help you control your Quirk better."

Natsuo squints at the paper, trying to absorb the information. "So, I need to practice making solid ice without it melting or breaking, and then make it bigger as I get better?"

"Exactly," Toya confirms, a hint of pride in his voice. "And remember, patience is key. This won't happen overnight, but with consistent practice, you'll get there."

Natsuo nods, his determination renewed. "I'll do my best, Aniki."

"I know you will," Toya replies, ruffling Natsuo's hair affectionately. "Now, off to school with you. And don't forget to put that paper in a safe place."

With a final wave, Natsuo heads off to school, the paper clutched tightly in his hand. He's eager to start practicing and prove to his family, and himself, that he has what it takes to control his Quirk.
