Chapter 1: The Chase Begins
A young man with jet-black short hair lay asleep under a comfortable quilt in a small room with high ceilings and white walls. A cheap desk computer sat under a cluttered desk, cables snaking across the floor. The room was a typical teenage mess..
As the sleeping boy finds himself enjoying his sleep, a short but feisty figure barges into the room making a loud noise making Kai flinch.
-Kai wake up! You are late again!- Luna's voice went through the entire room waking up Kai, it was Kai's older step sister, or what he calls her, a tiny demon, with short brown hair and hazel eyes, her skin was smooth and lighter than Kai's but dark nonetheless, she was wearing comfortable shorts with a tank top that clung onto her skin flawlessly.
Kai woke up and yawned as he rubbed his eyes trying not to focus on his annoying sister's loud voice.
Kai groaned and pulled the quilt over his head -Just five more minutes- he mumbled Luna yanked the quilt off, her eyes blazing -No more excuses! You promised you'd go today-
-Okay okay chill- Kai said as he got out of his comfortable bed with reluctance, with Luna leaving his room angry at his little irresponsable brother Kai began to prepare to go out, not to go to school but to skip class yet again.
In his blue baggy jeans and pink hoodie, Kai picked up his empty backpack to show his sister he was planning to go to school, though he had no intention of doing so. Outside the small apartment, with a slice of bread in hand for breakfast, Kai found himself in the bustling streets of the city. Feeling daring, he walked in the opposite direction of his high school.
'Should I go into random alleyways and hope not to get killed?' With unserious thoughts Kai went his mary way through the city while listening to his playlist of music with his earphones on, feeling the chill vibes from the songs he was listening to he founded himself in an area that he had yet to explore, most of the buildings here were abandoned or in bad shape, seeing a eerie alleyway his gaze shifted to its depths.
'What is that thing? i can't see it from here' Kai decided to approach the dark alley and found that what he couldn't guess at the moment would change his entire fate.
A black and smooth suitcase could be seen on the floor of the mysterious alleyway, the suitcase was resting against one of the dirty walls under a poster of the previous candidate to president.
"A shame that he died, he promised good things…just like every politician i guess" Kai thought as he was approaching the prize of this small adventure, maybe someone forgot their business case here or maybe it was empty, Kai was going to take it anyways, the suitcase looked pricy enough and his curiosity always got the better of him so he took a hold of the handle and rushed away from the alleyway before the owner appeared, but before he even took a step outside a huge crash could be heard from the end of the alley, Kai's gaze shoot towards the sound in a split second, he saw a man flying through on of the doors at the end crashing into the wall with such force that it could hardly be recognized as a human being, blood splashed through the whole alleyway, a few drops of the crimson liquid fell on Kai's cheek.
Kai's eyes widened as his gaze fell on the emerging silhouette that was walking out of the broken door where the dead man came from, standing tall at 2 meters a beautiful women in her mid twenties, her graceful but colorless hair fell on her shoulders, her features were cold but extremely beautiful, the only strange thing was her disturbing long and sharp canines, her pale skin and the blood dripping from her hand, other than that she could pass as an extremely beautiful businesswomen in a suit that was the same color of the suitcase with a scarlet red tie that contrasted with her cold skin.
She could be seen walking nonchalantly towards the corpse of the disfigured dead man, blood on her left hand, her gaze fell on the corpse and then slowly she turned her head towards Kai and pierced the young boy with her cold and sharp gaze, Kai shivered before he started to run with a primal dread taking a hold of his heart and adrenaline pumping through his veins he felt his legs moving and cold sweat running down his forehead.
"What was that!? Did she kill that man with her bare hands? I don't know why but i feel like if i slow down even a fraction of a second i'll die right away" Kai thought as he was trying his best not to panic and even though he didn't turn his head to look at the dreadful women to see the distance between him and her, Kai could feel that she was getting closer at a terrible speed, he was proud to be faster than any cop he found himself running from but this was on a whole other level, not only his young freedom is in danger but his even younger life was.
Two minutes have passed since Kai started running from the mad businesswomen and he was already exhausted and in pain from running at full power without a breath. Surprisingly there were a lot of abandoned buildings around that area so Kai could hide or at least block the vision of his approaching menacing persecutor. Kai Tried to get out to the main street where more people could see him running away from the beautiful women and would step in or call the police, though all of his tries were unsuccessful, every corner he tried to look in was a no end way, he could swear he was running in circles, the most strange and eerie thing was that there was no other sound other than his agitated breath, his fast footsteps and the calculated light steps of the scary women behind him, slowly but steady reaching him, it was like she had infinite stamina, like a hunter slowly wasting her prey's energy
Feeling helpless Kai took a gamble like he always did, still with his hand tightly grabbing onto the suitcase's handle he climbed through a open window of an abandoned old fashioned bar, Kai fell inside the storage room and as he rushed out of there he was met with the inside of a bar that he could guess that in its prime would have been filled with elites and all kind of people.
On Kai's right he could see shelves full of dust and old, empty bottles, the walls had a black tone that contrasted perfectly with the bright red of the floor and tables. It was a nostalgic and mysterious sight to see, but he had no time to enjoy the architecture of this bar. Kai stood back up using his right leg as a support and threw a hopeful glance behind his shoulder hoping against all odds that the women wasn't there yet, but to his disappointment his eyes met with two deep scarlets eyes that were staring right into his poor soul, shallowing his primal fear he tried to run from her, but the poor lighting from the room made him step on a empty bottle and trip over, landing on his backside he felt cold sweat run down his forehead.
"This is it? Is this how I'm going to die? what about Luna? She for sure will kill me if she finds out i was skipping school again" Before he could gather his thoughts again, the terrifying woman already made her move and shot her pale hand towards his chest as if wanting to rip his heart out like a beast.
-I should've listened to my sister…- Kai closed his eyes accepting his fate, the only regret he had was not giving back everything his sister did for him, she was truly her savior…and yet all Luna's efforts to make sure kai had a bright future not like hers or his parents were wasted by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Kai's eyes shot open as he felt his hand and arm move in the most purest form of primal instinct, even if the strange women's hand was moving at a lighting speed, his disturbing will to survive thought it could challenge death itself, the women looked surprised herself, but as the suitcase moved on top of Kai' chest in a desperate attempt to block the terrifying attack…
A futile attempt as the hand of the stranger pierced through the suitcase as it was butter then into Kai's chest
"Pain Pain Pain Pain Pain Pain" Kai's thoughts were clouded with just one thing…pain, blood came out of his mouth as he let out a sharp cry, a strange gray liquid came out of the suitcase and went into his wounded chest, that liquid or…thing made him scream harder, it was like he was slowly burning from the inside out. The woman took a quick step back in surprise and shock written all over her face, it was clear this wasn't supposed to happen. Kai's broken ribs and wounded chest began to heal, but in exchange it seems he was under immeasurable pain. Kai's thoughts went blank as more pain came through, he kept screaming and rolling in the ground as if he was on fire, but no, it was worse than being burned alive, it felt as though every molecule in his body and soul was breaking apart and coming back together, over and over and over and over again.
All Kai could do is try to not let his sanity slip away, he shut his mouth with so much force his teeths began to crack and foam started to come out of his moth aswell as tears from his eyes, all he could do to keep his sanity in this hell of an eternity was thinking about what he would lose if he breaks under this pain, his sister, art, cigarettes and…his desire to prove his parents wrong, not a lot of things to live for, but enough for at least Kai after what felt like an eternity even though it was probably half a minute of pure agony Kai could open his eyes once again, to see the horrified and shocked expression of the women, before anything ele could happen a few men rushed into the abandoned bar, they had blue uniforms and held guns towards the strange women, Kai never thought that in his entire he would be happy to see those blue bastards…As if all the adrenaline wore off when Kai saw the women turn into blur and espace the police he fainted finally from exhaustion and pain, the last thing he saw was the face of a young and handsome police officer with deep black eyes asking if he was fine.
