Diana parked the SUV in Nicol's driveway and thought about the house. "The lights don't come on unless he's asleep. I wonder if any of the rest of the flock live in the vicinity. Even next-door neighbors."

He got out of the SUV and Bella joined him. "The gray-haired lady looking through the shutter across the street watches every move we make," she said.

Diana slowly checked her mailbox and pulled out a brochure. Then he headed straight for the front door as if he were an ordinary visitor. "There is no sound inside the house. It won't take long for us to check this place, feel any signs of blood, see if the killer redhead or the girl has been here before. We'll be gone long before anyone gets here."

"Unless someone calls the police."
