Chapter 30: C30. Blood Control

"You bastard! How did you-?" The vampire screamed as his arm did a flying somersault, landing a few metres behind him, whilst a fountain of blood erupted from the now stump-like left shoulder of his,

"You're not the only one with a few tricks up his sleeve," I smiled, flicking the blood off my claws, mentally filtering out the bountiful amount of displays flicking into my peripheral vision,

"Did you know that you're god-awful at cursing?" I suddenly turn my attention back to the poor amputee, "All I've heard you say in the past…" I quickly glanced around - there was no way to calculate the passage of time in this cave-like place, "… few dozen minutes… is 'bastard this', 'bastard that'. Is your vocabulary really that limited?" I tilted my head with a mocking look,

"You-" The vampire gritted his teeth, "How did you do that?" His eyes glaring at me with intense hatred. If stares could kill, I would have been sent to hell and back over a dozen times.

"You mean… this?" I clicked my finger and gave it a little twirl, causing the giant puddle of blood on the dusty, stone ground to ripple a tiny bit before the entire puddle gushed over, forming a 20 centimetre sphere floating by my side,

"It's an interesting ability…" I nodded, squeezing my hand, and the blood exploded into thousands of tiny piece, forming miniature bullet-like ammunition.

"You- You monster!" He exclaimed, crawling back slightly with terror, "H…How did you?"

"So I'm no longer a bastard?" I raised an eyebrow, flicking a finger and causing a single pellet of blood to go shooting straight into the vampire's skull.

A single pea sized hole penetrating all the way to the back of his head as the light in his eyes instantly faded, and his entire body dropped to the ground, like a lifeless mannequin.

"That was… surprisingly easy…" I muttered with a frown, "Are vampires just that weak, or is this skill that overpowered…"

I finally turn my attention back to the popup screens,

"That's some pretty good stats," I muttered, giving myself an imaginary pat on the back, "Now... how do I get out of here..."

I frowned as I glanced up at the ceiling. The stone and cave-like textured walls were the only thing I could see, not a single hint of the outside world.

"I'm not going to be sealed in here forever, am I..." I chuckled to myself as I began to walk, gracefully hopping over the recently deceased corpse and heading deeper into the cave.

"Nooo!" Palmer screamed, his knees buckling to the ground as he stared down the mountain cliff in dismay,

"Palmer, clam down!" Sara shouted, attempting to deescalate the situation as the group leader, but her own heart was almost racing out her chest, "He'll be fine! He's strong, he can take care of himself. For now, we need to head out of the forest. Remember, Professor Sylis' supervising us. I'm sure she's already doing her best to help! Aligard, Zeffern, Elliot. Head down the mountain first, I'll get this idiot to calm down, then we'll catch up to you guys." She ordered, turning to face her teammates with resolution.

"Understood," Zeffern nodded with a serious expression, alongside Elliot and Aligard, who all began descending the mountain with no hesitation.

"Palmer!" Sara finally placed her attention back on the distressed Palmer, she grabbed Palmer's to force his attention away from the cliff-face,

"Calm down." She said slowly, looking him in the eye, "Breathe."

Palmer slowly closed his eyes as he took a deep quaky breath in, "I-I'm okay..." He gave a small reply and a few dozen rapid tiny nods as he once again opened his eyes and stared back at Sara,

"Good." She nodded, giving him a small smile as she let go of his face and stood back up, "Let's go,"

Palmer nodded in reply, slowly getting up and wiping his eyes, "...T-Thanks..." He murmured, a slight embarrassed expression as he let out a fake cough, pretending that it never happened,

"Heh. Getting all shy now. It doesn't suit a dumbass like you," Sara snickered, giving Palmer a slap on the back as she walked past him, heading down the small gravel path which led them up the mountain,

"Hey! I was just trying to be nice!" Palmer retorted was an annoyed expression, his previous depressed aura slowly fading as he chased after her, "If you're not appreciative of my thanks, then never expect another one from me! They're rare, you know?!"
