Chapter 4: Rebellion

at the dead of night in the Castle of the Spade kingdom, Inside the Royal quarters,

inside the royal quarters, A conversation was going on between the king and the queen,

"My king, has the rebellion really quelled," asked the queen in a worried voice, she was quite upset about the state of the country for the past year when the king decided not to wage war with the heart kingdom a year ago, some of the nobles were upset and in defiance of the throne,

Their reason- the living conditions in the Spade kingdom are harsh and one of the ways they can maintain their kingdom is to plunder resources from the more developed and abundant nations like the Heart or the Clover kingdoms, they said.

The Money lovers or the Military nobels were very upset as the king just stole what they considered an opportunity from them, they became enraged and started sowing the seeds of discord in the kingdom, increasing taxes, treating the population harshly, and blaming the king for their misdoings, they were planning a rebellion and overthrow the Royal family, they didn't have the etiquette power with them but the queen suspects there must be a hidden force at play here because generations long loyal families won't suddenly change their allegiance, and becomes rebels,

the king ran several investigations but that yielded no results, in the end, tired of the state of the country the king sent the Zogratis siblings, the oldest family serving the throne and the blessed of the underworld to the mission to subdue them. the siblings just returned with the completing their mission and a piece of terrible news,

"I don't know my dear, The Zogratis siblings did great work and uncovered every one of the Rebel leaders, but they did terribly by slaughtering the rebellion force, this mass murder will create fearful tension in the kingdom and paint me in a ruthless king,

seeing the recent slaughter there is no chance for the rebellion force to form or to strike For a while but there is a problem, because of there actions the kingdom will fear and avoid the royal family, creating a distance between us and the populace that was not present before,

honestly, it is a crime that I let the Zogratis siblings rome free after this but there is no chance of me to fight against them without causing a large number of causality it is better to keep them separated and busy at the border"

the king was very worried about the terrible state of his kingdom, king Loyce was a kind man and was very concerned with the state of his kingdom and their people,

he knows that there are harsh living conditions in the kingdom, and for the people to live now is more than difficult and on top of that because of the horrific destruction of the coup the citizens are in distress, and he has to quickly find a way for the kingdom to be in peace again,

the one way he thought the trade with the heart kingdom, a land such abundant in resources like the heart, wouldn't mind sharing their resources with the other kingdoms, with the prospect of making new trade relations and an alliance between the kingdoms, the new queen of heart will most likely accept the deal and form an alliance,

but this prospect also shares a problem, it is nearly impossible to form a land route to the heart kingdom, because of the grand magic regions of the neutral zones, there is no way a merchant can cross that distance and arrive at the spade kingdom unscathed, or vice-versa

the only viable route remains the sea passage or the spatial transport, in the sea passage side it is easier to travel than the neutral zone, with harsh yet possible conditions for travel, the monstrous seas of the south are known for their high waves and mana storms, a land infested with sea beasts capable of devouring whole ships at once but once every month for a week the mana currents stop and the water turn still no beasts popup and harms the ship they enter a state of sleep or hibernation, what causes it is unknown but it is the perfect time to cross the magic region with the help of wind mages powering through that ship,

the other possible method is the use of spatial mages and creating a route that way, but to find mages capable of casting a spell that powerful and then the reserves to maintain it will be challenging, and from what we know spatial mages in the heart kingdom are rare in the extreme with only a few ever recorded, it's not like the spade kingdom has plenty space magic is also very rare in the spade kingdom, with only 13 capable users in the entire mage defense force, and the strongest being Zenon Zogratis, the blessed of the underworld, the king thought for a moment that it would be possible for to establish a trade route with the power of zenon but the king discarded it as a bad idea this move would give the Zogratis family a lot more power than the king wished for, the entire kingdom will be dependent on them if that happens and the king is not ready for that kind of power shift, it would be stupid and foolish to do that, the best way remains the sea route,

now the king only wished that what he had planned would come to fruition and the kingdom would be safe and prosper,

the king looked at the frown on the queen's face and gave her a fake smile,

"Don't worry about it now my dear let's, just rest for tonight we will think about this tomorrow" the king said and grabbed the queen's hand, he gently guided her to the bed and tucked her in for sleep,

"You rest for now my dear, I have some matters to attend to I will be here shortly" The king smiled and left the room.

the queen sat there helpless and contemplated their conversation she understood what was happening and knew the consequences, she just hopped that the king would make the right decision, the queen felt useless at that moment she was the king's advisor his other half but she was unable to give him any council,

the queen after that moment looked at the two princes sleeping in the cradle, she wished from all her heart that these troublesome problems don't fall before on there children,

in the royal chamber, the king's working quarters the king was in a meeting with the leader of the mage defense force, Goro Naiflem a powerful wind user and his most loyal retainer, he was discussing the repercussions of the recent acts against the rebels and the views of the public, they both were discussing the speech to give to the public to maintain their positive attitude towards the royal family and the country, they narrowed down the points and nearly completed their discussion when suddenly there was a commotion in the Castel, the ground started shaking like an earthquake and weird bony spikes started to spread all over the castle even entering the room the king was in,

suddenly the door of the room swung and the leader of the medic Rose entered the room, she looked at the king and his retainer in dread and shouted

"The Zogratis Siblings and the dark disciples have rebelled, Your Majesty"

"They are outside the castle with the assumed dead rebel army with them "
