Okay, this isn't right.
How could I fall into the arms of such a handsome man!
That's right! He's really, really handsome!
Oh, my God. I can't breathe!
"Hey, are you okay?" He repeated his question again.
I tried to stand up straight. Damn. The legs were as soft as jelly.
Instead of being able to tread properly on the sidewalk, I staggered forward and almost fell. That's when this handsome guy pulled me back into his arms.
God, I can't face this attack of handsomeness twice.
But... wait a minute! Since when did a werewolf like me recognize God?
"It looks like you're okay. Do you need me to carry you to your house?"
I shook my head. My face felt hot. I quickly let go of his embrace and stood at a distance.
This time I managed to stand up straight. My gaze was glued to the man who was right beside the trash can.
He was tall and slim. He reached at least 190 centimeters, very tall. Unlike me who was only 165 centimeters tall.
His skin was copper-colored with muscles that were clearly visible under the black short-sleeved T-shirt he was wearing. Faded jeans with rips at the knees added an undeniable macho impression.
His hair was slightly long, tempting my fingers to run through the thick strands. Just thinking about it makes one part of my body instantly tighten.
Damn, this guy is not very good for my self-defense.
And what color are his eyes? Dark brown? Or dark blue? Or hazel? The color is very unclear from where I'm standing right now even though the sun is still shining brightly.
"My name is Sol." The man said suddenly. "I'm glad you're okay. I thought you had anemia."
I grimaced. How could he think I had anemia just because he saw me almost faint under the onslaught of his good looks?
"I'm Lei."
I decided not to mention my last name. It was a precautionary measure because it was possible that the person I was dealing with wasn't actually human.
If he was from the Sun Clan, I would be in trouble if I introduced myself as Lei Moon. Because Moon is not a name commonly used as a family surname.
"Just Lei?"
I nodded. "And you? Your name is also just Sol?"
He nodded too. I smiled widely. His cold friendliness, okay that's my term to define his slightly strange demeanor, a mixture of friendly and kind, but also a strong sense of distancing, made my heart flutter.
"Alright, Lei. Greetings. I live in the house across from that."
Ah, so he's the new neighbor. I nodded without leaving my smile.
For a local, my friendliness was terrifying. There aren't many people who would carelessly smile at a stranger.
But I don't know, with Sol it's different. I felt like I had an invisible connection that made me instantly happy to meet him.
It must be because of that handsome face and sexy body. I thought to myself.
"I live here." I pointed at my parents' house.
"Well, it's nice to meet you." Sol waved and walked casually across to her house.
I saw Sol chatting with the courier who had been staring at me. My smile faded. The courier looked back at me, this time with a colder nuance in his gaze.
I shuddered. Fear was creeping in fast. I don't know what caused it. As a half-werewolf I shouldn't be afraid of anything. Ah, I'm such a coward.
I left the backyard. I'd had enough of peeking into the new neighbors' busy lives. It was time to prepare dinner from the spices in the kitchen.
Unfortunately, my preoccupation with preparing dinner didn't go smoothly. Mom came in with a pale face. One hand was holding the other.
I immediately ran to her. I smelled blood. My eyes widened when I realized my mother was injured.
"There was a Sun Clan member in town. He followed me and attacked me at the beach."
I reflexively looked outside. The sky was dark. There must be no one who saw the duel between my mother and the Sun Clan members.
"There were two of them. It looks like a married couple. I smell their odor very strongly. It looks like they're trying to mark this area as their own."
"Can't be allowed!" I growled loudly. Two of my fangs appeared.
"How could they attack us and claim this territory as their own."
I carried a wound care kit. Modern medicine didn't work on our werewolf's body. So, our family always used the ancient herbs passed down from our ancestors because they were more effective.
"Mom saw their faces?"
Mom shook her head. She winced in pain as I applied the dark green potion from the pottery bottle.
I also applied a balsam that would mask the scent of our werewolf's body. I didn't want to take any chances. There were other werewolves out there who had just attacked my mom. They must not follow Mom here.
"There are new neighbors. I smell a strange scent from them. But it could be coming from the couriers." I explained.
"So, this is why you put on this ridiculous balm?"
"One of them. It could be that Mom's attackers followed Mom's scent all the way here."
Our conversation was interrupted by the ringing of the door. I put down the balm and walked quickly to open the door. My mouth dropped open to see Sol standing there.
He was charming.
Of course he is!
This time Sol's appearance is more presentable, wearing a black T-shirt covered with a bikers-style leather jacket. His torn jena pants had been replaced with darker, fuller ones.
"Hi, sorry to interrupt. Mom told me to give you this as a greeting."
Sol held out a plate covered with a floral napkin. I wanted to laugh out loud. Sol's fierce appearance clearly contradicts her very feminine nature.
"Thank you." I smelled the sweet scent of cake from behind the napkin.
Sol didn't move away. I looked back, in the direction where she had landed.
There was my mom standing at the bottom of the stairs. Mom's smile was bright. It didn't look like Mom had a serious injury on one of her hands.
"Is this your boyfriend, Lei?"
I felt my cheeks heat up. My face must be as red as a boiled crab right now.
"Mom, what the hell? This is our new neighbor. Her house is in the back."
Mom's eyeballs widened. "Oh, the one who lives in the empty house?"
Sol nodded. She reached out to shake hands with Mom who walked over.
"My name is Sol, ma'am."
"Gosh, how polite of him. It's hard to meet young people who still have manners." Mom praised.
"And I hope, Lei is also one of the few young people you've met." Sol showed off her rows of white teeth with a brilliant smile.
Mom laughed softly. "Look at her, Lei. She's good at seduction. Come in, let us set up an extra seat for dinner."
"I apologize, ma'am. But I have to pick up my parents. Their car broke down on the beach."
Mom nodded. "Okay, then hurry up and pick them up. I'm sorry they're waiting so long."
Mom and I watched Sol leave. The man had a nice car. It was a truck with a big body and expensive-looking paint.
"Mom." I said softly. "If Sol said he had to pick up his parents at the beach, wouldn't they be caught by the werewolf that attacked Mom earlier?"
