Brent's POV

Who was Chelle? I hadn't heard from her in days, so I wondered what went wrong. Did I hurt her? Could I have been too pushy? When I called her again, it went to voice mail. It was on briefly, but why? I put my phone on the table and relaxed.

Lara's strange behavior at her desk, staring at the phone, was odd. Did her boyfriend text her? I was envious, but I was more worried about Chelle. I was going out with friends tonight, so I'd call when I got home. Perhaps she'll be available.

I worked on a report while listening to the news and perusing stock reports. I made a lot of money but always worried about my investments. I always wanted a return on my money, so I invested wisely. The money was needed to pay my phone bill. She wasn't cheap, but she was worth it. I yawned and looked for coffee, keeping her voice in my ear.
