Chapter 4: Chapter 3

I dashed right to dodge the charging bear on all four. I spun my heels in to keep the bear in sight, as not seeing its movement would be fatal in my part. It looked back at me with a tinge of annoyance.

"ROARRR!!!" It roared loudly as it stood in its feet like a bipedal being and tried to swipe me with using its long claws. Closing the distance would instead have it's palm hit me as how it happened to Kayla.

So I dodged backwards and distanced myself to try to control my haggard breathing.

This body was that of a child. Sure this body is energetic, but it lacks stamina and strength. Meaning, I would have to compensate with my observational skills and knowledge I have from my previous world.

Before I could fully control my breathing, The Chimera was already charging on me with its jaw looking like a blood thirsty abomination. Fear erupted within me, but this was the opportunity that I needed. So I held my stick firmly and timed my dodge.

Before I could dodge the savage charge of the chimera, I plunged my stick in its eye. Using the force of the chimera's charge, I did not have to exert any sort of power in my plunge. However, I realized that dodging sideways would be dangerous as the chimera's force may break the arm I used to plunge the stick if I'm even a second slow. Instead, I relaxed my body as I spun back in order to neutralize the force of the charge.

This act however, didn't go accordingly as planned as it seems that I overestimated the capabilities of a child. I distanced myself from the Chimera trying to calm my breathing while my left hand holding my dislocated right shoulder.

"ROAAARRRRRRRRR!!!!!" The bear roared louder than ever as I have successfully taken one of it's vision.

I could feel the tip of my lips curl upwards as my planning bore fruit, However, It still wasn't enough. Even though I successfully blinded one of its eyes, it still had another. While I had no more equipment as my stick was still stuck in its eye and my right arm was out of commission.

"This is really bad..." I thought to myself while still trying to think of a way to handle this situation. I looked at my surroundings to try and find another stick to do the same with its other eye, however, that was a mistake on my part as it was in that moment that the Chimera charged itself on my defenseless state, knocking me back a few meters away from where I previously stood and into a base of a tree. I felt my back screaming in pain and my innards feeling

shook from the impact.

"da-..m-..it-." I tried to curse, but my body wouldn't even allow such words to come out of my mouth as even my breathing was disordered.

I thought of what to do as the Chimera slowly made its way to me, almost like it was rubbing its triumph over me in my face. This act irritated me, but my body was unable to comply to my instructions leaving me in a defenseless state. Then, as I waited for my impending demise, I tried to recall anything that would help me in this situation.

but the only thing I can think of was how sickening my life have been. To live as a doll wearing a fake mask of dignity for the selfish bastards.

As the Chimera approached me with that triumphant look stapled in its face. Right now, all I feel is fear and anger for how I lived my life and the end before me-- or so I thought.

I felt a tingling feeling in both my head and in my heart. The sort of feeling described in the books as to when an awakening happens.

Feeling the sliver of hope that came along with my awakening, I tried and use my magic against the beast before me.

However, my hope was cut short as I don't even know what my magic is, furthermore how to activate it. As I lost my hope, all I had within me was anger. From the piling up of my thoughts a few moments ago, to the hope that disappeared as fast as it came.

I was angry at everything.

redirecting that anger to my body, I slowly stood up to face the 3 meter bear-like chimera beast. Its face, which looked triumphant a few moments ago, now stained with an obvious ferocity. I know for a fact that I cannot do anything in my current state against a monster like this, but... I just cannot openly accept my demise.

steeling myself for the inevitable, I directed my emotions into strength and roared ferociously as I punched the chest of the Chimera.

"..." I looked at the chimera's eyes one last time with my own ferocity, before I collapsed under the immense burden placed on my body.

(Sophia's pov)

"ROARRRRRRRR!!!!" The sound of a thunderous roar echoed in the forest.

"hmm? it looks like a beast is on a rampage." the old man said, "hmm.. this might be bad... Alright! Sophia! Master orders you to check on White and see if everything's all right."

"Negative. Master's safety takes precedence over the boy." I told him as this beast might also come here and attack him.

"oy oy? Disobedient now are we?" The old man shot back with a wide grin.

"... Accomplishing master's order. It is suggested that you remain her-"

"Just hurry up and go!" the old man says impatiently while huffing.

------

As I made my way to the roar's of the beast, I thought of how that child should at least be safe. After all, a child's natural instinct of fear is more prominent than that of an adult.

which is why when I arrived, I could not comprehend what was laid before my eyes.

A tattered child with his fist connected to the chest of a giant ferocious beast that could rip the said child apart, yet the child shows no sign of despair against the foe in front of him.

Probably because of his exhausted state, the child collapsed-- snapping me back to my purpose.

My hand glowed green as I imbued mana in it, forming a blade. I rushed towards the beast in an attempt to assault it. however-

"what?" I stopped in my tracks as I realized that the beast was frozen in place. It wasn't incased in ice, nor was it chained in place. It was just frozen in place like a statue.

Confusing as it may, I approached the child without lowering my guard down towards the beast so that I could tend to the child's needs.

but something caught my attention in the chest of the beast-- something that would be absurd if my hunch was correct.

"This-!"
