I open the drawer to my desk and pull out the deck I've kept in there for years. It's a little old and worn, but still has all fifty-two cards. I show it to him before tossing it on the bed.

"What game?" he asks.

"Your choice."

"War?"

"That game never ends."

"Exactly."

I can't help the smile. "Fine. Set it up."

"Mind if I get comfortable?" He gestures to his Converse.

"Sure."

Alex pops off each shoe, keeping them in front of my nightstand. He leaves his socks on, but then peels off his hoodie, tossing it to the ground with his shoes. He's in a red shirt with jeans and looks completely irresistible. Gulping, I look away, wondering if I should put on a sweater or something. Thankfully, I'm still wearing my bra.

Alex sits on the bed and crosses his legs. He shuffles the deck and then shuffles it again. Finally, he counts out twenty-six cards and places them on my side. I sit down across from him and pick up my half, about to flip the first one over.

"Ready?"
