"You sure it's cool that I'm here?"

His question has my knees trembling because no, I don't think it's a good idea for Alex to be at my house, alone with me. It's probably the worst idea in the world since I have absolutely no will-power when it comes to him. And I've already told him he doesn't have to do anything to kiss me - which is true - so there's really nothing to keep us from getting out of control.

I open the door wider. "Yeah. Come in."

Sinking his hands into his pockets, he passes me and scans the place. He's been in my house before, but Corey's not outside this time, and there is no Jessa.

"When's your mom going to be home?"

"Tomorrow, I think. It could change."

He nods and turns, walking farther into the house. After another good scan, he stops in the living room, hands still snug in his pockets. "So where do you paint?"

"In my bedroom."

Instead of asking to see it, like I assume he'll do, he gestures around. "You never paint out here?"
