I focus on our clasped hands, wondering if I'm going to pass out. Knowing I'm going to. My heart is pumping on overtime, and my skin is about to burn off. Alex glances back more than once as we ascend, like he can't believe this is happening either.

We reach the top step, and he walks us to a door on the right. "Guest bedroom. Plenty of elbow space in here."

"Great," I say and mean it. I can actually hear myself think up here. And this not having everyone around thing is also awesome. "It was getting a little claustrophobic downstairs."

"Must be the awesome band."

I roll my eyes, and he knocks on the door. There's no answer, so he tries the handle. It opens easily and he turns on the light.

Cozy.

It's the first word that comes to me. Blanketed in a warm glow, a pink bed sits in the corner with ivory drapes along the only window. A white dresser stands across from the bed, the lit lamp the only other item in the room.
