"Um," Savvy clears her throat, crossing her arms. "Who is this skank?"

His girlfriend, apparently.

Because Alex has a girlfriend. A really pretty girlfriend with pink hair and a hot outfit. And what am I in? A tee-shirt and jeans. The girl next door at its most cliché. Suddenly, I want to cry. And scream. And cry some more and run away. The girl jumps up on her toes to kiss him again, and he looks at me the moment their lips make contact.

I turn around.

Savvy follows.

I head straight to her car, not bothering to say goodbye. I can't. The lump in my chest grows heavier with each passing second, choking all the air out of me. I want to dislodge it, to not have seen or heard what I did. To go back to earlier when it didn't feel like this.

I can't believe I feel like this.
