I still can't believe Alex came back.

It's like a dream.

Showing up at my art exhibition, telling me he chooses me - me, over his band - is too unreal. Guilt tugs at that decision, but he seems okay with it. Actually, he hasn't said much about it. I don't want to stir anything, but I want to make sure he's thought this through, that he has some sort of plan for what he wants to do next.

"So...you just...quit the band? Just like that?"

"Well..." He makes a face. "Not just like that. There was some begging and crying. A lot of cursing."

"Marty must be mad."

Alex lifts a shoulder. "He'll still get paid. And he'll manage my new career as a solo artist, so he won't lose me as a client."

"What about the band? Corey? Jordan?" I wait a beat. "Sean?"
