AUTUMN

This spacious hotel suite is suddenly too small. I need to get outside and clear my head. A walk around the block. Or maybe two. Or maybe I can walk back to my apartment to mull things over. Yeah, that's probably what I'll do.

"I'm going to take a walk."

"Not the best - "

"Where?"

"You should probably - "

"I'll be back," I say to no one in particular, practically running for the door. Someone calls my name, but I jump into the elevator before anyone can reach me. The doors close and I let out a breath. I just need to be alone for a second. I need to have my own thoughts without someone else interjecting, telling me what's going to happen or what I need to do to be with Alex.

The doors open and I step out into the lobby.
