Chapter 40: 40. Everything is Foolish

Cassius and Ellie walked side by side towards the horse-drawn carriage.

Ellie was afraid that Cassius might misunderstand or blame her.

After all, she, a married woman, shouldn't be alone in the Crown Prince's palace without guards or servants, especially considering her past engagement to Cassius.

"Cassius?" Ellie cautiously called out.

"Hm?"

'I think he's really angry.'

"Why are you here? You didn't mention that you were coming to pick me up."

"...."

Eleanor's question was met with silence.

'Did she hope I wouldn't come so that she could meet her former fiancée?'

He wanted to ask the question that lingered in his mind, but he was too afraid of Eleanor's response.

"I haven't done anything wrong," Ellie said with a determined look.

"I know."

"But why do your gazed look like you want to kill someone?"

Cassius stopped walking and gazed at Eleanor with an unreadable expression.
