Chapter 48: Chapter 48: He Missed Her

Ways Wyatt hated to admit that he missed.

He climbed into his truck and drove away, chuckling to himself. He wasn’t going to be easy on her. She’d stomped her foot as she watched him.

He drove to The Mermaid. Why not have a beer before going home?

Mick was in his usual spot behind the bar. He had a beer poured by the time Wyatt reached his seat.

“Hey, Mick. Thanks.”

“Twice in one week. That’s rare for you,” Mick said.

“Tough week.”

“With Fiona back in town, it would be.”

Wyatt frowned. “I’m supposed to collaborate with her on a project.”

Wyatt sipped his beer, his heart just beginning to slow down. When he’d inadvertently touched Fiona, his skin had burned. His pulse had ratcheted up. Damn. She could still do it to him. How as he ever going to work with her?

“You look like a man sentenced to death.”

“I feel that way. I don’t think I can be around her.”

“You still have feelings?” Mick said.

“Sadly, yes.” He took another sip of his beer.
