Chapter 34: Onto Orfarion

After Miraak made some preparations on Rifton's Royal Castle, he encountered Kieran Virhice as he walked on the street.

Since Kieran wanted to make a contract with them, the duo soon started to talk.

Kieran said everything about the contract.

Money, Security, Responsibilities, etc.

In Miraak's eyes, it was 'perfect'.

From his conversations, He perceived that Kieran wasn't a bad person and since Kieran's travel paths were almost perfectly aligned with his journey, although Miraak was still slightly suspicious of him, he accepted.

Leaving the Mimic Spider Daedra as the Uncrowned King of Rifton and leaving Dr. V alone to his researches, Miraak left Rifton with his group along with the 'Virhice's Merchandise'.

...

As the sunshine shone on the trees and the cold wind of Skyrim blew on the road, a caravan slowly advanced on to the next city.

Scripted on the caravan's beautiful brown wood was 'Virhice's Merchandise'.

Four people could be seen riding their horses around the Virhice's caravan.

The one on the front, leading the caravan, had a black cloak covering all his body.

The only thing that could be seen was his mouth as his hood covered his face.

The one on the right of the caravan had a brown cloak covering all her body, except her head.

With her blonde hair blowing in the wind, her blue eyes wondered in the area as she tightened her bow in her arms, ready to fire at any second.

The one on the left of the caravan had a black cloak covering all her body, except her head.

As her black hair danced on the wind, she stared focused at the forest as she kept her right hand on the right dagger hanging from her hips.

The one behind the caravan had a white cloak covering all his body as his white hair hanged on the sides of his hood.

Miraak, Asa, Iphislia and Arel.

"I'm counting on you, Mr. Miraak," Kieran said from inside the caravan.

After all, he was only a merchant.

Although he knew some Fire Spells, he couldn't handle a group of bandits.

"... Of course." Miraak said responded bored.

The journey from Rifton to Orfarion was proving extremely boring to the group.

Although some dumb wolves and bears appeared, they were dead before they could properly disturb them.

If not from an arrow penetrating their brains, they would suddenly die from an unexpected slash at their throat.

Asa and Iphislia proved themselves quite useful to Miraak.

Since the group, for now, didn't need him to defend the caravan, he chose to continue training on the different spells from the enormous mental library he had.

Different from the Thu'um Tonal Magic that he already knew and mastered, he knew about 2 other Tonal Magic.

The first one was 'Tonal Architecture', a Dwemeri subset of Tonal Magic that allows its user to manipulate elements of the Aurbis by producing special sounds.

Tonal magic can add, interrupt, or change the 'song', although this is seldom used on a bigger scale. The Dwemer mastered this magic and their Tonal Architects could use it to build long-lasting structures, as a mining tool, for medical purposes, or to synchronize it with the mind.

And the second one was 'Sword-Singing', created in ancient times when the Yokudan people were once artisans, poets, mystics, and scholars, but the constant civil wars that plagued the nation resulted in many searching for enlightenment through the Way of the Sword, also known as the "Song of the Blade". This eventually developed into a martial tradition known as sword-singing.

While the 'Thu'um' Tonal Magic was speaking the Dragon's Language, the 'Sword-Singing' Tonal Magic was speaking the Sword's language and the 'Tonal Architecture' Tonal Magic was speaking the World's 'Architecture' language, from the complex mind of the living to the simple stones of the earth.

( Correct me if I'm wrong. )

There was a third Tocal Magic called 'Green-Singing', but Miraak couldn't find anything about it in Apocrypha.

It looked like the Tonal Magic was passed on from a person to another through other ways other than Writing or Speaking, so Apocrypha couldn't record it.

Since Miraak was already training on the Realm that was created by Silaeen Verdam, the genius Redguard Master of Swords, named the Realm of Absolute Control, Miraak was already on a good spot to train on 'Sword-Singing'.

He had only one problem, to start training on Sword-Singing, he had to have enlightenment through the Way of the Sword.

And he didn't know how to do it.

Although extremely old, Miraak wasn't omniscient.

He just knew what he knew.

Sighing, Miraak continued riding his horse in deep thought.

Asa and Iphislia were protecting the caravan and Arel was mentally memorizing Adept Ice Spells as they continued walking forward.

The group was becoming stronger on their own as Kieran, the traveling merchant, sat inside the caravan, studying the group.

'... A group of four children guarding my caravan... What a strange world to live in...' Kieran thought amused.

Although he traveled around Tamriel and he saw many strange or stunning things, he never saw a child as powerful as Miraak.

It just didn't make sense.

But, since he saw with his own eyes, Kieran had to believe it.

A 10 years old Ice Master, although without the Magicka's pool to sustain it.

As he stared at Miraak's back, he wondered.

His possibilities.

His future.
