Chapter 2: Moving In
3rd POV
"I really hate mornings, especially Mondays." Zeno muttered to himself as he blends himself some coffee.
Turning on his pc, he opened Call of Duty and spent hours modifying his gunsmith.
"This should work I guess, now if I'm sober enough to remember. Today is the day I will move in on the apartment that Yagoo arranged for me." Checking the clock, Zeno powered down his pc and stretched.
"Man I will miss this place." Spinning his chair around he examined the room he lived in for 4 years. Reminiscing every memory, like his first time setting up his pc, the first time he got injured ever since he transmigrated over, and many more.
Smiling ruefully to himself, he took his phone and dialed Yagoo's number.
"Old man, I already packed the stuff other than my pc, I'll bring that with me."
"Ah! Mr. Zinogre, I will tell the movers to come over and move the rest." Zeno's eyebrow twitched at the mention of his moniker.
"Just call me Zeno, old man. That title is really cringing the hell out of me." Yagoo laughed on the other side of the phone.
"If you say so, anyway I'll send the address after this call so you can head over there yourself."
"Alright then, I'll hang up now, need to pack the pc and head over. Ja ne~!" Without waiting for Yagoo to respond or reply, Zeno hanged up.
Standing up from his chair, Zeno closed every window and turned on the noise canceler.
"Let's get to work shall we?" Zeno smirked as familiar neon green and black streaks of lightning coat his arms.
~Chibi Zeno in his Zinogre form, growling at Chibi Mio.~
"Ah? That kid." Yagoo shook his head in exasperation and turned to his nemesis. Paperwork.
But before he can continue his life and death struggles with his nemesis, a knock on the door caught his attention.
"Come in!"
"Yagoo-san." Lifting his head, Yagoo spotted one A-chan standing in his doorway, plus a curious wolf peeking from her back.
"Ah, A-chan, Mio. Is there something the matter?"
"Well, Mio here wanted to talk to you about something." A-chan gestured to Mio who fidgeted at the attention.
"A-ano, Yagoo-san. Is it true that you are recruiting a special member for Hololive?" Yagoo blinked in confusion as quite frankly, no one except Roboco knows-
"That damn robot. Roboco told you about me tracking someone huh?" Nursing his head, Yagoo thought of Roboco's betrayal.
"D-don't be mad at her Yagoo-san, it wasn't exactly her fault. Ayame caught wind of you two yesterday and heard about what you two are talking about." Yagoo nodded.
'Makes sense, well cat' out of the bag now, or in this case, beast.'
"Yes, but he won't be associated with the same things as you guys. Because frankly, our fanbase has been requesting a new branch that focuses on the new and uprising fame of VR games. I know that you girls as the Hololive Gamers are trying your best to familiarize yourself with it. It's not exactly enough as of the moment. As such, I went out and scouted various streamers and gamers that are popular in the VR genre." Mio's wolf ears perked up at that and looked at Yagoo in excitement.
"Haha! Yes, I found the person that you guys personally idolize in terms of VR gamers. The Thunder Beast of GGO." Mio squealed in excitement as she can't wait to tell Fubuki and the other gamers.
"Anyway, he will be the leader of his group called Hololive Divers. Hololive Divers will be focused on playing games just like GGO and Alfheim Online. But! At the end of the day, they are still idols and stars of our company, just like you guys." Yagoo said as he spun his chair looked out to the city.
"Ehhh?! Zinogre-san can sing?!" Mio was shocked and so was A-chan, however she hid it well enough.
"I was surprised too, apparently it's a part-time job of his. Anyway, off you go now. I know you can't wait to tell the girls about this news." Mio nodded vigorously before rushing out of the room.
"These Hololive Divers, I know that it isn't supposed to be started this early Yagoo-san. What changed?" Yagoo smiled at A-chan and gestured for her to sit.
"Yes, this branch was supposed to be launched next year. However, when I saw this clip, I knew that I have to start it now in order to build rapport and momentum." Yagoo said as he showed A-chan a clip from a Battle Royale tournament of GGO.
There was one guy in the middle of 35 or so players, every single one of them aiming down their sights on this one guy. Who is this person? This was none other than Kyle himself, or according to his in-game name, Zinogre.
A-chan watched in morbid fascination as Zinogre danced amongst the rain of bullets and rockets. Barely dodging them by a hair's width. She watched as Zinogre turned into a neon green and black streak of lightning as the thunderous sound of his guns echoed as he passes by any enemy on his way. This was the match the earned him the name of Thunder Beast.
A beast in human clothing, moving like a black and neon green streak of lightning, unparalleled by no terrain. The moment he passes by you, all you will hear is the sound of his thundering gun and wrath. The next thing you know, you have a bullet at the center of your forehead.
The video then showed the players that were slain by Zinogre being interviewed.
"How does it feel to face the Thunder Beast?!"
"Terrifying, that guy shouldn't be a normal person. No human nor demi-human can pull off all those maneuvers. His reflexes are too abnormal, how can someone dodge a point-blank shotgun shot?!"
"Thunder Beast Zinogre, he is a once-in-a-lifetime genius. His speed, reflexes and even his mind is that of a beast. The way he stalks, the way he attacks, and the way he maneuvers are telltale signs that Zinogre is a beast in a human's clothing."
"This, are all of this, really true?" A-chan looked at Yagoo in stupefaction and Yagoo looked smug.
"Of course it's true, I'm one of the commanding officers that were also killed by him during the last phase of the game. That's why I know how much potential he has in terms of gaming. Especially in games like GGO and SAO, normal pc games limit his capability. After all, there are limits to fighting with a mouse and keyboard."
A-chan slumped on her seat as she digests the outstanding performance Kyle shown as Zinogre.
"And you were able to recruit him?" Yagoo nodded more smugly after that.
"This is an unprecedented outcome and progress that we are going to make. Plus, you said that he can sing? How was his singing?" A-chan asked as Yagoo closed his eyes and reminisced the first time he heard Kyle sing.
"Actually, you had probably heard him sing already," Yagoo said as he opened his eyes and typed on the laptop.
"Eh? I did?" A-chan asked.
"Mhm, remember that famous Ytuber that streamed and sang the song Freaks when demi-humans discrimination are an all-time high, that even lead to serious casualties?" Yagoo said in a grim tone as he opened a folder in his laptop.
"Wait, that was, 5 years ago isn't it? It's also the year when the Demi-Human Alliance was established and constructed this city of Alfresia. Are you telling me that, he was that person who sang that song that caused massive outrage amongst humans and united the demi-humans?!" A-chan stood up in great shock as she remembered that time vividly. After all, she was once a fan of that Ytuber.
"Yes, it was him." Yagoo nodded in content. Although that his channel was banned and taken down by Ytube, to this day, a lot of people remember him and made countless covers for that song.
"That's, amazing," A-chan remarked.
"It is," Yagoo whispered and looked out the window and stared at the azure skies.
~Chibi Mio kicking the door and telling the whole Chibi Gamers about what happened in visible excitement~
"So this is where I will be living from now on huh? Neat." Zeno put down the boxes his holding to the side.
Opening his camera, he took a photo of him and his soon-to-be room and apartment from now on.
"Heh, now I'm hungry. Might as well go out and have dinner outside for now." Yawning a bit, Zeno went outside his new apartment and pull the hood of his hoodie, and walked out.
While walking down the road, he heard various whispers due to his enhanced ears.
"Eeep! He looks so intense!" A fennec fox girl whispered to the female ice elf beside her.
"He does, I wonder if something bad happened." The girl with what seems to be bear paw gloves said.
"He smells dangerous, anyway, our bus is here, let's go." The one who spoke last was a female white lion and she seemed to stare at him in wariness.
Zeno scoffed and stayed at his spot, waiting for the bus to go and cross the road.
"Sorry about them, they tend to be wary of their surroundings." Glancing to the side, Zeno was greeted by a succubus who is cheekily smiling at him.
"Mhm, I'm used to people saying those things to my resting bitch face. Anyway, you might miss your bus and friends, you should go." Said succubus nodded and walked off.
"Oh! My name is Mano Aloe, by the way, bye-bye wolf-san!" Zeno nodded at her and waited for the bus to go before crossing the road and sitting at the Ichiraku Ramen stall.
"Two miso ramen please!" Zeno shouted his order before looking out to the streets.
"A peaceful night it seems. That's good." Zeno smirked before turning back to the meal that was just settled in front of him.
"Itadakimasu!"
