Chapter 4: Fight!

Naya's reflexes were sharp and instant. She jumped up while waving her hand in front of her, causing a strange green glitter to spread out. A strong gust of wind instantly formed, lifting her high up and allowing her to easily dodge the earth spike.

"You scum!" Naya's eyes burned with fury. Killing fellow students was strictly prohibited during the final exams! But she soon realized, even if it was prohibited, if it was a mere commoner that was killed, it could be settled quite easily. Her death might even be written off as an unfortunate encounter with a powerful beast in the forest. Upon realizing this, her gaze turned cold and stony.

"You look down on commoners too much." Naya said as her left hand rose up and went to the back of her head, untying the bun that her long, brown hair had been tied in. Her right hand reached into her pouch and produced a pair of glasses. She placed the glasses on the bridge of her nose, closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Everything seemed to slow down in the eyes of Klaus and his followers. When Naya opened her eyes again, from a bright blue color, her eyes had turned into a sharp green, as if mirroring the vast force of nature that surrounded them.

"No ordinary commoner could have secured their way into Geldale. I will show you why I am the one who made it this far." As Naya spoke, a soft gale began to swirl around her. This gale was formed without any assistance from any of her potions, powders or other aids for casting spells.

Klaus was taken aback, but he had his pride on the line. He refused to back down, immediately waving his hands. His sleeves rolled back, revealing two iron black bracelets on either wrist. He clicked them together and the earth around him suddenly ruptured, cracking and breaking for a dozen meters around him. His friends all hurriedly backed away while preparing measures of their own. They were all nobles, although they did not come from families as notable as Klaus.

Klaus was the son of a Duke, while they were sons of Barons and Viscounts at most. They could not compare to him, and likewise, the means they could show were weaker than what Klaus had on him. Just his bracelets alone were things they could not imagine using at their level.

The stone fragments around Klaus suddenly began to rush up his body, forming a sturdy stone armor. The armor was thick and strong, but did not impede Klaus' movement too much.

"Come, commoner! Let me teach you why nobles are superior to commoners like yourself!" Klaus bellowed. The rocks in front of him gave way for him to step forward under the winds that were growing increasingly stronger with each passing moment.

Elena who was hovering a couple of meters in the air raised her hands and thrust them at Klaus, causing the wind to turn into sharp blades that rushed forward. Her green eyes darkened as she felt a huge amount of her energy be drained away.

Heavy thuds and cracks rang out as the wind blades dug into the stone armor, causing Klaus to slide a few feet back from the force of the impacts. However, he remained standing, not moving back more than a meter away.

"Is that all you've got? Pitiful. I thought you were going to show me something worth my time." Klaus mocked under the stone armor, but he immediately paused and looked down after. Several thick vines had snaked their way up his calved and were beginning to tighten their hold while still maintaining their iron grip on him.

"What is this?" Klaus tried and failed to rip the vines off his legs.

"Did you think I just wanted to hit you with a little breeze? Don't be stupid." Naya descended back to the floor and turned to the three other boys as they paused their own actions. "Don't move or I'll make sure he's crippled for the rest of his life." As she spoke, the vines had reached Klaus' waist and tightened more around him, causing him to grunt as the stone armor was pressed tightly around him. He realized that while the wind blades could not hurt him, he could still be squeezed to death by his own spell!

"You can't do it. Do you know what will happen to you and your family if anything happens to me?" Klaus raised his head indignantly and looked up at Naya.

Crack!

"Argh!" Klaus cried out in shock and pain as he suddenly felt the vines tighten around his calf and a bone snapping.

"Want to try that again?" Naya smirked.

"Dammit! I'll get you back for this!" Klaus roared angrily.

"Get me back with two broken legs?" Naya responded just before snapping his other leg. She turned to the boys who remained frozen with fear and shock. "You can take him back to the academy. I don't want to see any of you again."

With that, she turned and was about to walk away when a meter long crystal snake suddenly leapt out from underneath a bush, its sharp, venomous fangs bared at her.

Whoosh!

Bam!

A blur suddenly flashed by her, pulling the crystal snake along as it went, and slamming into a large rock at the side. The sudden events shocked everyone, and the force that passed by her face staggered Naya, sending her falling back. As her concentration broke, she unwillingly released the hold of the vines on Klaus, which allowed him to break free, held up only by the stone armor that remained upright and rooted to the ground.

The cloud of dust began to settle and everyone present laid their eyes on a large, scaled beast. The more the dust settled, the more they saw. When the upper body of the scaled beast was revealed, everyone present took a deep breath.
