Chapter 1: Lin Cheng
"Young Master, it's time for the test."
The Lin Clan servant respectfully knocked on the door and bowed to a young boy, who looked no more than 6 years old.
His name was Lin Cheng, the son of the Patriarch of the Lin Clan who was a mighty five star Dou Zong. The Lin Clan was the local ruler of a second-rate city in the Tianjiang region of the Central Plains, and possessed quite a strong foundation there.
Of course, being in the Central Plains, they had heard of the earthshaking battle between the two Dou Di, Xiao Yan and Hun Tiandi, several years ago. Nearly half of the Central Plains was ruined after that battle where Xiao Yan was victorious.
After that, the Flame Di, Xiao Yan, established the strongest sect to ever exist, the Divine Flame Sect. In the sect, Dou Lings were servants, Dou Wangs were Outer Sect Disciples, Dou Huangs were Inner Sect Disciples and even his father, Lin Bao, a five star Dou Zong and a unmatchable existence to Lin Cheng, would only be a Core Disciple. After that, were the Protectors of the Sect. A Dou Zun would be a Protector of the Divine Flame Sect, as for higher ranks, he did not know much about it, but knew that a one to three star Dou Sheng, qualified to be an unmatchable existence, was only an Elder there.
After that, would be the ranks of Grand Elder and Divine Elder. Above all of them would be Xiao Yan, the Flame Di and founder of the sect.
However, this was still too far away from him - he had never seen an expert stronger than his father before. He now had to focus on two tests he had to take - one for talent and another for innate abilities and affinities alike.
Lin Cheng lined up with the hundreds of youths of the Lin Clan. Their innate talent was measured from one to nine stars. Anyone receiving one star talent would immediately be thrown out of the clan, while people with two star talent, while still being able to live in the clan, would be somewhat neglected. The record was a six star talent, set by the second Ancestor of the clan a few hundred years ago. He had long left the clan and was currently roaming the Central Plains.
The test started. Most of the youths got a three star talent, while those who got one star burst into tears. There was even one who got a five star talent! He most likely would outshine almost everyone in his generation and reach a high level in combat.
"Looks like the Lin Clan will have lots of new blood," an elder commented.
Just then, it was Lin Cheng's turn.
"Young Master Lin Cheng, it's time for the first test. Please step on the testing stone," another elder of the Lin Clan said.
Lin Cheng slowly stepped on the first testing stone...
