Chapter 37: Return to Camp

Cassie's thoughts swirled with possibilities, as she contemplated the uses of the beast. But something gnawed at her incessantly, a word she had heard and didn't understand, her lips parted as her gaze between Nessa and Victor, both moving ahead with purpose.

The adrenaline from the days events had worn off and her mind was beginning to clear. They were getting ever closer to the camp as time flew by and eventually she found the courage to ask about what had been troubling her.

"Hey Victor, "

"Yeah, what's up kid?"

"You said something about a" fortifier" earlier? What is that?"

Her eyes linger on Victor, who briefly meets her gaze. His eyes narrowed, with confusion oozing from his expression. He glanced over at Nessa, eyebrows raised, and tone laced with skepticism.

"What the hell have you been teaching her Nessa?" he asked, his voice low and edged with disbelief.

"How does she not know the basics of mage classes?"
