Chapter 25: Possible Killer
Haley sighed after the call as she allowed water run through her head in the process of thinking. There were alot happening at the same time and with Pedro around to distract her she needed a room separate from him to do some thinking. That was the kind if comfort she was getting from her bathroom right now..
"Who could have tempered with the phone that was kept as an evidence? She will really do a thoroughly shaking of that department when she goes back to work tomorrow. Her mind drifted to the security guard she requested to be arrested in connection to allowing that sniper shooter go in without being checked. She bit her lips when she remembered she was suppose to go back but now from the weather outside it was already late. Her spell with Pedro had made her forget what she was suppose to have done"
Another troubling thought is the true intention of Pedro towards her. Yes he had not hurt her in anyway when he first adopted her but then it could also be a slow ploy to deal with her later now. The fact he was also working for BigJo was another source of concern for her. What if he was sent for her but just used this case as a means to get close to her. The only thing she was 90% sure of is the fact he didn't kill Joan. Yes 90% because her line of duty have taught her that humans are unpredictable and for someone like Pedro who she knows to be very smart, he could be really masking his true intentions towards her after all he made it clear that he was back gor revenge because she broke his heart. Or was that an excuse? Why did his face or name not show in any data base online? Could he be an assassin working under BigJo
Her eyes widened at the thought of those things.
"I will look for a means to take him out of this house. A safe house will be better for him" she concluded in her head. If he was truely an assassin then she would have to look out for signs from him. After all she has dealth with people who took more than one month gaining the trust of their victims beforr killing them.
She quickly took her bath and headed out with nervous steps. The time she has wasted inside will make anyone suspicious. She was expecting to still Pedro glued to her laptop but what she met left her speechless for a while.
He was no longer on the chair but now on her bed sleeping peacefully without any care. She baffled at the level of trust he had on her that she would not sell him out.
A quick glance at the time informed her that she spent close to one hour in the bathroom. It was enough time for someone to sleep off.
She observed him closely and discovered he looked more handsome even in his sleep. She was tempted to touch his face and feel his body. She closed her eyes tightly trying to fight back the temptation.
"How can I have such thoughts for someone who might be a killer"she questioned herself as she scolded herself mentally
Her eyes at that moment caught a glimpse of what some notes Pedro took while he was studying her case while. She opened her mouth when she read all he had written. He had drawn a connection between some incidents and left a question that she never thought of asking
