- the day she turned 20
Unexpectedly, she bolted up in her bed.
She was sure she had fallen down from a 4-story tall building.
She looked around.
In a panic, she scurried out of her bed and was about to go outside.
How did she not die?
After a fall from a 4-story tall building, plus, she is crippled.
She was about to open the door when she realized.
I am crippled.
Why am I standing?
Where is my wheelchair?
She went to look in the mirror.
Shocked at what she had seen, she scrambled and went to look for her phone.
She first looked at the date and time. (January 5, ****)
Then she remembered, that was the time when she stayed at her grandfather's house for the weekend.
How is that possible?
'I was 20 years old at that time' she thought.
"Mandy, are you awake?" a familiar voice called.
She turned and stared as tears trickled down.
She had missed her grandfather after so many years. She never thought she'd see him again.
She ran to her grandfather and pulled him in a tight hug.
'I missed you' she said in her mind.
"Ow, Mandy." her grandfather groaned.
"You're so strong. Don't forget to be gentle when hugging this weak old man." He chuckled.
He stroked Amanda's hair gently. With a worried face, he wiped a tear from her face and gestured for them to sit down.
"Why are you crying sweetheart," he asked in a coaxing tone.
"Nothing, just a bad dream" Amanda smiled as she wiped her tears,
"Are you sure? Is the room uncomfortable for you? If that's the case we'll move you to a better one." he said concerned.
'It's been a long time since I've been treated this gently.' She thought sadly.
"It's fine grandpa. Sorry to disturb you. I'm gonna sleep now. It's late." She smiled.
Her grandfather sighed. He then offered to make her some hot chocolate.
Amanda lay on her bed thinking.
'God gave me a chance.' She smiled slowly. 'I'll make sure I'd make them pay. I won't waste this chance.'
