Chapter 31: Chapter 31 "Veer's Concern and the Mysterious Mage"

As the elevator reached the 9th floor, Veer announced, "Well, this is my stop. If fate brings us together again, let's meet."

"Sure, until next time. By the way, what's your name?" the girl inquired with curiosity.

"My name is Veer. And what about you?" Veer replied, extending his hand for a handshake.

"I'm Ran," she said, shaking Veer's hand firmly. "Nice to meet you again, Veer." With that, the elevator doors closed automatically.

Veer watched as the elevator ascended towards the top floor. He let out a sigh, his mind racing with thoughts. "She's incredibly attractive, and I'm drawn to her way of speaking. Since the moment I laid eyes on her, I've been infatuated. It feels like love at first sight. But I must find a way to suppress this overwhelming passion and maintain our friendship," Veer pondered silently. Gathering his thoughts, he turned and made his way towards Dr. Gaurav Saxena's office room.

The 9th floor of the hospital resembled the other floors, housing meeting rooms and doctors' offices. Veer, who was new to the area, approached a nearby nurse and requested assistance in locating Dr. Gaurav Saxena's office. With the nurse's guidance, Veer eventually stood in front of the office door.

Examining the nameplate outside, Veer confirmed it was indeed Dr. Gaurav Saxena's office.

"Hmm, I should probably ring the doorbell before entering. It wouldn't be right to barge in without notifying Dr. Gaurav," Veer thought to himself.

*Ding, ding, ding...*

Veer pressed the doorbell three times, prompting a quiet yet slightly irritated voice to emanate from a screen near the door.

"Who's ringing the bell three times, disturbing me?" the voice on the display screen grumbled.

"Oh, I apologize, sir. I shouldn't have rung it multiple times," Veer expressed apologetically.

Observing Veer's sincere apology, the person on the screen softened their tone and responded, "Alright, just remember to ring it once next time."

"Yes, sir, I'll be more mindful next time," Veer assured.

"Very well, but who are you, and what brings you here?" the person inquired, their curiosity evident through the screen.

"Hmm, sir, I wanted to inquire about the expected recovery time and associated costs for my friend," Veer replied, his face reflecting concern.

As Dr. Gaurav Saxena caught sight of Veer's distressed expression, he realized it was the concerned visitor standing outside his office. He swiftly activated the intercom system and responded from the safety of his room, instructing Veer to provide the details of his friend. However, upon witnessing the depth of Veer's worry, Dr. Gaurav decided to invite him inside.

To Veer's surprise, the door in front of him slid open automatically, granting him access to the office. As he stepped inside, he noticed two individuals seated within. One was a man around 35 years old, donning a white lab coat that identified him as Dr. Gaurav Saxena.

The other person, in his 30s, wore a distinctive black wizard battle suit and wielded a staff measuring one meter in length. Veer presumed it to be a magical device, although he couldn't catch a glimpse of the person's face as he was currently engaged in conversation with Dr. Gaurav Saxena. Veer's curiosity piqued, but he decided to focus on the matter at hand.

Addressing Dr. Gaurav Saxena, Veer respectfully stated, "Sir, my name is Veer. I've come to inquire about my friend, Lucky. He is in room number 866. Could you please inform me about the duration of his treatment? Additionally, one of your nurses advised me to consult with you, as you are overseeing my friend's care. I would also like to inquire about the cost of the treatment, sir."

Dr. Saxena nodded, recognizing the urgency in Veer's voice. "Yes, I remember the boy who was admitted today. But before we discuss that, let me address your concerns."

Suddenly, Veer felt an immense pressure bearing down on his body. The intensity surpassed anything he had experienced before, even from Dhuvar. Thoughts raced through Veer's mind, trying to fathom the identity of the person responsible for this overwhelming power.

"Who is capable of exerting such force? This person's strength exceeds that of a rank 2 warrior or magician," Veer pondered, perplexed.

Dr. Saxena intervened, urging the mysterious mage, "Please, Arik, reduce your strength. This is a hospital, not a battlefield."

Arik, the mage, shifted his focus towards Veer and explained, "I understand, but as a guardian of the Battle Mages Alliance, it is my duty to assess potential threats. I applied some pressure to gauge his reaction."

Dr. Saxena defended Veer's concerns, stating, "Indeed, he is merely worried about his friend. It's natural for him to seek information and feel anxious. We should empathize with his situation."

Relieved as the pressure on his body dissipated, Veer expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Saxena's understanding and compassion. "Thank you, sir. I appreciate your assistance and consideration. Lucky means a lot to me, and I want to ensure he receives the best care possible."

Dr. Saxena smiled warmly, assuring Veer, "Rest assured, Veer. We will do everything we can for Lucky's recovery."

And one more thing, you don't have to worry about Lucky's hospital bill because the Battle Mages Alliance will cover all the expenses.

Veer's heart skipped a beat as he absorbed Dr. Gaurav Saxena's words. The mention of the Battle Mages Alliance filled him with a mix of awe and anxiety. He had heard tales of their power and influence, but never did he imagine that his friend's life would be entangled with such an extraordinary organization.

"The Battle Mages Alliance?" Veer repeated, his voice barely a whisper. "They...they cover the expenses for their members' treatment?"

Dr. Saxena nodded, his gaze filled with concern. "Yes, that's correct," he affirmed. "Your friend's affiliation with the Battle Mages Alliance grants him privileges and support. The Alliance offers substantial benefits to its students, including a salary of 10 million star dollars and a villa worth 200 million star dollars. Additionally, they ensure the security of their members' families."

Veer's mind whirled with a flurry of emotions. On one hand, he was relieved that his friend's medical expenses would be taken care of. But the gravity of the situation began to sink in—the attempted murder of a Battle Mages Alliance student had led to severe repercussions.
