Hell, Chris might as well have told me that there was a unicorn waiting for me at the border!

I frowned, feeling rage boil inside of me. Clearly, Chris was being suspicious as hell, as I’d never told anyone openly about my previous ex-mate. But worse was feeling Grace stiffen beside me. Outwardly she didn’t show any emotions, but I could feel the heavy thrum in our mate-bond, as fear and doubt snaked their way around her heart.

So not fucking happening!

“She isn’t my mate,” I snapped, my wolf growing more and more agitated by the second. Once he’d give his own life to save that woman, but after seeing her on top of his own brother and alpha, his loyalty and love for her had died an instant death. That’s why he hadn’t fought his human when they rejected her or why they hadn’t died when the bond severed.

He simply didn’t want her.
