Chapter 2: The Red eyes

Zanuel stood in front of Denisa, staring at her brown eyes, reading her, while she stood there frozen, watching him float in the air. He tilts his head, observing her while her eyes look calm, but her heartbeats echo in the dungeon.

Denisa stares blankly at the fire-flaming eyes, which made her forget what she was doing there and let loose her body, walking towards Zanuel as he reached for her.

Zanuel held her palms slowly, calming down and gaining his proper form, pulling all the energy from her body, and she fell to the ground. He walks away from her, leaving her in the dungeon to die, but he can't leave; something is stopping him.

Denisa jerked her eyes open, got up from the bed, and scanned the surroundings around her, trying to recall where she is and why she is not in her chambers. She looked around and saw a small cupboard covered with spider nets and a small table beside her, she looks around her there was nothing except the spider nets and insects crawling around her. The realisation hit hard.

"It wasn't a dream?" fear covered her face, she quickly gathered her dress, thinking about running out of the room to save herself but couldn't move an inch, recalling things "Wait, if it wasn't a dream, then the monster with red eyes is real too" She reminds herself, but this wasn't the time to think about it.

"I can't let him eat me," she says and runs out of the room, she kept running but it didn't matter how fast or how much she ran, she ended up in front of the same broken wooden door, her tired body gave in and she again fainted, Zanuel came and saw her lying on the ground and takes her inside the house and glances at Denisa placing her on the bed.

"Who is she?" he asks the man standing behind him wearing the armor, ready for war. Robert stood a little away from Zanuel, he was still overwhelmed.

"My lord, she is Denisa, a human," Rober states staring at Denisa who was knocked out on the bed.

Zanuel tilted his head, gazing at Denisa, "Human?" he questions as this does not make sense to him

"Yes My Lord" Robert couldn't be wrong in this "Are you sure?" Zanuel was skeptical about it, he asks sitting beside Denisa and watching her sleep peacefully "A human? How was a mortal able to open the coffin which was closed for over a millennium?" he asks turning back to Robert "Is that possible?" he adds staring at him, who had no answers.

Robert quickly bends his head down, not looking at Zanuel in his eyes "She's the daughter of a couple who took shelter in the kingdom, that's the only thing I could find my lord" Robert spoke disappointed by himself.

Robert is good with mind controlling and reading people's thoughts and incredible with manipulating humans; it wouldn't have been an impossible task for him to know things about Denisa, but Zanuel was right, a mere human wouldn't be able to open the coffin which was sealed for over a millennium.

"We'll know everything we want once she wakes up," Zanuel says, looking at Denisa, who was tired from all the running.

After a good nap, Denisa finally woke up and finds herself inside the same room, she looks around frustrated but her eyes calmed down when she saw a gorgeous man sitting on the edge of the bed, his eyes closed and his long hair tied in a bun while a few strands falling on his face making her want to push them back to have a clear view of his beautiful face, and his nose as sharp and pointed wished by every human on the planet. God really made him with patience. The lips looked pink just like a newborn making her insecure about her dehydrated and chapped lips, she was busy gawking and enjoying the view of him that she didn't realize his eyes were on her.

"You awake?" Zanuel asks, getting close to her, the eyes felt familiar but she couldn't remember where she saw them. Denisa pulled her hands from his, even though he was handsome she wouldn't let him take advantage of her.

"Who are you?" she asks, her hands trembling, Zanuel could feel her fear and pulled himself back and didn't push her.

"I mean no harm to you," Zanuel says in his defense looking at her confused self.

"No one in the world screams I'm a bad person, don't try to fool me" she replied trying hard not to show how scared she is at the moment, being in an unfamiliar place with a dead handsome man she had ever seen. Zanuel lets a chuckle out and looks at her in amusement.

"It feels good to be alive again" he whispered staring at her, but it was loud enough for her to listen to.

"Again?" she stares at him and the realization hit, the eyes felt familiar because she saw them just a couple of hours ago, she gathered all the courage in her and stared back at him hoping he would say otherwise.

"Are you the floating skeleton from the coffin?" she stared down waiting for his answer as her throat got dry making it hard for her to gulp.

"Floating skeleton? Me?" he asked pointing a finger at himself.

"Were you the one locked in the coffin?" she asks trying to connect the dots as the eyes were the same.

"Yes," he agreed right away and did not deny her.

"Then how did you get this handsome?" Denisa's still in shock she is not the one speaking anymore, while Zanuel is enjoying "Take a guess" he really is having fun with this human.

Denisa thinks of ways he could have gotten his form back "No you did not drink my blood to get that body" she says looking for marks on her neck and wrists.

Zanuel looks at her in disbelief "Do I look like a blood-sucking creature to you!" he argues, while Denisa was still waiting for his answer "I just borrowed your energy" he says getting up from the bed and walking away from her.

"My energy? How?" she asks curiously following him back not minding the distance and getting close to him.

He looks at her getting close to him, the fear in her eyes vanishing slowly "Weren't you afraid of me a few minutes ago?" he asks, locking his eyes with hers.

"Who said I am afraid of you?" she asks in a trembling voice, breaking eye contact with him.

"No one," Zanuel says walking further away from her

"Wait, what time is it?" she looks out of the window, fear creping in her eyes "Why?" he asks confused "I have to go back to my chambers, if not I will be in trouble," she says quickly collecting her gown "Trouble?" he asks watching her getting ready to move.

"Yes"

"You are not going anywhere!" he says fighting his anger and trying not to scare her, Denisa stares at him "What do you mean? I must go back! I brought you back to life isn't that enough? just stop with the nightmares now I'm done with them!" she says walking towards the door.

"I SAID NO," he yelled at her and everything in the room started falling and the door closed stopping Denisa from walking out of the room, everything in the room shattered and his eyes turned flaming red in anger.

Denisa turned around to face Zanuel and saw the fire flaming in his eyes, the same eyes, she takes a few steps back in fear but still managed to ask for reasons "Why are you doing this? What more do you want from me?" she asks in trembling voice tears falling down her cheeks. The eyes were scaring her "You can't leave!" he says walking towards her.

"Why?"

Zanuel has no answer, he knows his actions are unreasonable. He should have killed her the moment he stepped out of the coffin, but he did not instead he brought her back with him because he couldn't leave her in the dungeon dying, nothing made sense anymore, not him getting out of the coffin or his anger.
