Chapter 75: Remnants of the Assassins Syndicate (3)

Planet Annsecundus

Knock Knock Knock

The door opened after a while revealing the shocked face of a male student with pale skin and curled brunette hair.

"Who ar-"

Before he could utter another word I dashed in, held his mouth with a tight grip to stop him from shouting out for help and closed the door.

His roommate was a black-haired guy with darker skin, he was as shocked as him. He tried to say something but I interrupted him.

"Utter a single word and I will kill you," I warned them in a cracked voice. Before I got inside their home, I made sure to phase my vocal cords to adjust my voice.

All in all, a similar scene unfolded this time as well, (reference to chapter 75), except this time I didn't use any illusions.

"I thought I didn't need to interfere with you guys but it seems I was wrong... Gather all your members tomorrow in the hideout at twelve O'clock. I will send an envoy to assign you all your respective tasks. If I let them be as they are, they will surely lose their touch," I said, turning away from them and heading towards the door.

"But sir, what should we say to the others? They would likely suspect your identity..." The black-haired kid asked.

"Heh, you are a smart kid," I said, teleporting in front of him. "However, isn't it necessary to introduce yourself before asking for someone else's name?"

"I am Ramon, Zeke Ramon," the kid answered.

"Ramon... Hm, you can call me Ryuk," I said, patting the kid. 'Sorry for borrowing your name.'

"I don't mind, that is just an alias to me... A name is irrelevant to me," Ryuk said, although he sounded a bit happy, I didn't understand why that was. "That kid has an interesting ability, you should train him well."

'Is that so? Well, I do need someone to help me control the Syndicate... I could let him take that role,' I said. "I will leave the responsibility of delivering my message to them, to you. Don't disappoint me."

The kid nodded his head and I turned around, before teleporting away.

"I didn't know someone was watching over us all along," the pale kid said.

"Don't overthink this matter Leo, I know you felt that resonance when he entered our house. Only an Assassin Syndicate member can vibrate at the same frequency as the other," Ramon said. "He might have been watching over us for a long time but... Due to our current actions, he wanted to remind us who we were..."

"Sigh... You are right, it seems we were blinded by rage, targeting someone like Ray Allen is out of the question. Let's inform the others, we got a task on our hands," Leo replied.

Vwoorp

Ramon aimed his hand at the ground and shot forward a ray of waves that created a round shaped portal on the ground. Both of them hopped though the portal after the other side was visible to them. The portal closed almost immediately after they both hopped though it.

Vwoorp

"Portal creation? A useful ability indeed..." I said, phasing out from the walls. "If he masters that ability, he will make a great villain."

"Doesn't phasing constantly for so long drain your stamina?" Ryuk asked.

"My enhancement attribute enhances my stamina as well so, it's not a problem for me. I can phase without any side effects," I answered. "Plus I am trying to regenerate my stamina with my regeneration attribute, if I could do that... I might just get infinite stamina."

"Regeneration attribute uses stamina to regenerate your body, you can't use it to regenerate your stamina. Don't try something stupid, you will end up hurting yourself," Ryuk reminded me.

"Divine energy generators work that way, stamina is also a form of energy like divine energy. It's not a blind shot," I said. "I was somehow able to regenerate my mind, maybe I can do the same with my stamina."

"If you imply it like that... I guess it's not impossible to make a closed loop," Ryuk commented. "Anyways, who is this envoy of yours?"

"You don't remember Crowley?" I asked.

"That bachelor demon, who runs a soul supply?" Ryuk asked.

"Yep, that guy is the one who will help me out this time. I have a deal for him," I said, biting my finger and drawing a demon summoning circle on the ground. "Those guys will be gone for some time, and what better place is there to summon a demon than here?"

Generally, summoning a demon would require several ingredients, fire, sigils, and most of the time, an incantation in Latin or spurious Latin and barbarous names. Although summoning a demon requires spellwork, demon summoning rituals can be performed by ordinary people as long as they have enough energy.

However, a demon that you summoned once can be summoned with just a sigil made with the contractor's blood and the name of the Demon.

"Crowley, show yourself!" I shouted, as a black smoke rose from the ground manifesting into a form of a young male with stylish dark hair and red eyes, dressed in pure black shirt and pants with a red tie.

"If it isn't my favourite contactor..." Crowley said, shaping his hair with his hands. "To what honour do I owe you a vi- What happened to your suit?"

"I am mourning for a lost friend," I replied.

"Did something happen to that pet of yours-"

In a fit of rage, I rushed towards him and held him up by his neck, phasing my right hand near his heart.

Keuk

"Don't call him a pet if you treasure your life," I said in a cold tone.

"I am sorry... Am I supposed to be scared of you?" Crowley asked. "We both know that you need me to keep your soul supply running."

"I can always find a replacement," I answered indifferently.

"A demon willing to betray their own race? I believe it will be a tough search, demons are selfish, yes. But betraying their own race to help someone who might destroy them later is well..."

Thud

I released my grip making him fall on the ground.

"Remember not to cross your limits next time... Let's get to bussiness," I said, as I turned around to sit down on the sofa. "I have an offer for you."

"A new contract? Do you need another soul of a dead god?" Crowley asked, getting up from the ground and adjusting his tie. He then manifested a red chair with a snap of his fingers before sitting before me with his legs crossed.

"Manners?"

"Urgh..." Crowley sat normally, growling quietly.

"How interested are you in becoming the King of Demons?" I asked.

"What? The Demon King? Haha..." Crowley laughed at my words. "You are good at making people laugh... You are joking right?"

"Not at all... I have a plan... The question is... Are you in?" I asked, putting my hand forward.

'... Who wouldn't want to be the King of Demons? But even trying to do something like that would be a suicide attempt... But if it's someone like him... He can actually make me the Demon King. Should I trust him? Demons are all selfish creatures and he is aware of that... I could just kill him after I become the Demon King... But couldn't he do the same? A man who can give you something can easily take it away as well. However, if trusting such a man can benefit me then...' Crowley was lost in thought.

Who wouldn't be? It's not a decision that's easy to make, if he were to shake that hand then his future would be set but what will happen after the contract is over? No one can guarantee that his life would be safe after becoming the King of Demons.

"You can think this over if you want-"

"No... I have made my decision. I have no interest in becoming the King of Demons," Crowley answered.

Hahaha...

I burst into laughter after hearing his decision.

"I can't believe you actually passed my test," I said, brushing off the tears from my eyes, formed by my laughter. "What is the use of a rotten hell after I destroy it anyway? Crowley, do you wish to join join me? Living like a bachelor can get boring, don't get me wrong but draining the energy from other demon souls can only get you so far... However, if you join me... I can give you planets full of regular souls that haven't gone through a transformation yet!

Who cares about your status if you have the strength to back it up? If you join me, you can get more than you can imagine, Demon King? Even Demon Emperor wouldn't be enough to judge your status! You would be able to create an army of demons with a snap of your fingers!"

"You... Heh, I guess I didn't judge you wrongly... You are right... Who needs a reason when you can have it all," Crowley sneered. "I will join you, let's turn this world upside down."

"Aim higher my friend, universe it is," I replied, shaking hands with him.

"Spoken like a true villains," Ryuk smiled.
