Chapter 17: Chapter 14 : Foresight
I should rest for a bit. I've been traveling since the sun rose and haven't stopped since. So far I haven't had any luck on finding anything, however when it is the next day, I shall travel even further into the West.
Obaka brings his horse to a slow gallop as he prepares to camp for the night. He gets off his horse and stations it around a tree.
"I need to look for small sticks to start a fire, it seems like the night will be cold". Obaka thought to himself, as he went to gather large quantities of sticks. He went over to his horse and grabbed some pig skin out of his satchel and covered himself.
"The skin shall keep me warm tonight". Obaka started the fire and slept close to it, causing him to fall into a deep state of sleep. While Obaka fell into a deep state of sleep, he was once again visited by his ancestors.
"We meet again, Obaka".
"Your life will come to a quick end if you do not prepare for what's coming".
If I'm not dead, then why do my ancestors visit me constantly? According to them, they should only meet me once I have passed on in the afterlife. How bizarre, I wondered.
"What do you mean by "what's coming ", speak now ?! I asked.
"We have warned you, the rest is for you to decide".
I instantly woke up from my deep sleep, but was still baffled by my ancestors. I do have a rather odd gut feeling that the Austrians will soon pursue me and judging by the state of their kingdom, it's only natural for them to come after me. Their most prized prisoner had just fled their hands, if I were them I'd be trying to capture myself as well. I doubt that they know the preciseness of my whereabouts, but then again, something about them isn't fully human so I'll prepare something just in case.
Obaka spent the rest of the night gathering raw materials to create a trap for his pursuers. He gathered large amounts of sticks, stones, leaves, and even venomous insects. "This should be plenty to satisfy death's hunger". Out of the few traps Obaka placed, he created a cloak that camouflaged himself and blended in with the environment; The Chief of the Orcs waited patiently for his prey.
