The clouds rolled back to reveal the first light of dawn. It was as though nothing out of place had happened the night before. The ground came alive with color as the plants opened up to the bright sunlight. All rain that had fallen was quickly absorbed and brightened the landscape.
The Dianthians looked around in wonder. While they had seen wonderous things in their lives, this was something else. This was a miracle.
Slowly, everyone moved further into the clearing and looked around in wonder. It was as though they were scared the Thianthius would return at any moment and destroy them all. Considering how their world had turned upside down, they couldn’t be blamed for that.
Jardan quickly moved to Callie and pulled her into his arms. Her hands clenched his shirt, and she breathed in deeply.
“Are you okay?” he whispered.
Callie nodded and buried her head in his shoulder. “Yes. You?”
He ran his hand over her head. “Alive.”
