Monday morning dawned with clear skies. Callie pulled back her curtains and smiled at the bright sunshine. She was tired of storms. A sunny day was called for, and it had arrived.
Dressing quickly in a pair of jeans and a red button-down shirt, she rushed downstairs to eat her breakfast. Her mother was in the kitchen, pulling a bowl out of the cabinet.
“Good morning, dear.”
“Morning, Mom.” Callie plopped down on the stool at the bar and began pouring out her cereal into the bowl her mother offered.
Indigo leaned against the counter. Her eyes watched Callie intently. “Pretty adventurous weekend.”
Callie nodded as she took a bite of the cereal and checked her watch for the time.
“Were you scared?”
Callie shrugged. “A little at first, but Jardan was there.”
“How do you like him?”
Callie slowed down and eyed her mother. Indigo’s tone was cautious, a little too cautious. “He’s...great. Why?”
Indigo smiled in response. “Just wondering. Hoping he is treating my girl good.”
