The crystal gave a dull sparkle in her hand from the lights in the room. Its flat round shape make it look like a river rock. In fact, it looked more like a chunk of glass. Callie smiled. As she did, the crystal began to glow from within. Like a glob of water, the crystal pulled itself up and twisted until it looked like a clear, twisted donut. It became fluid again and formed into a crystal rose. The tips of the petals burst into flames that reached up and entwined above the crystal. Callie directed the flames into intricate dances while the crystal rose changed hues.
The lights reflected off Callie’s skin in an eerie display of her powers. She knew the exposition didn’t help her cause, but she wanted to see how far she could go. It seemed that each time she used her powers, she discovered something new. Did she have limits? That terrified her like nothing else. She hadn’t pushed the limits yet. Maybe she shouldn’t even think of what would happen.
