Chapter 1: Prologue
Who would have believed the night could be brighter than the day? Stars illuminated the sky, and the moon reflected light. When everything is at rest, it is the greatest time to appreciate even the smallest aspects.
She stood beside me, holding my hand and showing the beauty of the darkness. The horror I felt vanished slowly; there were no monsters, only my shadows.
The moon's illumination was the sole source of guidance for us, but she boldly led us to safety. Perhaps I rushed to pass judgement on her?
The abrupt sound of a breaking twig shocked me, causing us both to slip and roll to the ground. I didn't want to appear weak in front of a female, but my emotions couldn't be contained; I was hurt and afraid.
"Hey, Calum. It will be alright. Just look up at the stars, dont look down."
