Chapter 26: Chapter#26: The final chapter
Wade's eyes opened. He found that Dara and William were not in the room. He got worried. In an instant, William got out from the bathroom with a towel, "You're awake."
"Where's Dara?" Wade asked.
"She went upstairs to see her parents."
"Did you just have a shower?"
"It's a big day today." William laughed, "I should look presentable as a hero."
"You needed one? You know you stink like a rat." Wade chuckled.
"I stink like a werewolf." William winked.
"More like a dog." howled Wade.
Dara entered the room.
"Dara he just called you a dog." William pointed at Wade and laughed.
"No I didn't. I called you a dog." Wade looked at William.
"I'm a werewolf so as Dara. If you call me a dog, you call her a dog too." howled William.
"Dogs are better than zombies. At least they're alive." Dara laughed.
"You're a vampire too." Wade winked at Dara.
"She's a half dead dog." William laughed endlessly. They all chuckled.
"I should go meet your parents." Wade spoke to Dara.
"They were asking about you. I told them you were asleep."
"Will you come along?" Wade asked Dara.
"Sure…come." Dara smiled.
"We'll try to bring breakfast for you." Dara smiled at William.
"I'll just stay in the bathroom for a while." William chuckled.
"Not again." Wade laughed.
Wade and Dara went upstairs to the living room where Dara's parents were while William stayed in the room and checked his phone.
"Morning Mr. and Mrs. Greg." Wade greeted.
"Good morning Wade!" Greg was reading the newspaper.
"Morning son!" Ellen smiled.
"Did you sleep well last night?" Greg asked.
"We actually slept this morning. Dara wasn't well." Wade told.
"Ellen told me about that."
"Come I'll make you breakfast." Ellen stood up from the couch.
"No you don't have to. I can help myself." Wade smiled.
"Mom we'll be in my room. We have to finish some school projects." Dara told.
"Sure honey. Take your time but take care of your health too." uttered Ellen.
"Wade's here to take care of her. Don't worry." Greg chuckled.
Wade and Dara blushed. They both went to the kitchen to make breakfast.
"Do you know how to cook?" Dara asked.
"Not really." Wade told.
"Then what was that for you don't have to, I can help myself." Dara laughed.
"We had to make breakfast for Will too." Wade spoke.
"Come I'll teach you to make toast." Dara went close to him. She held his hands from behind and helped him make a toast. They were being romantic more than cooking. Wade turned to Dara and held her up on the shade. Dara held him from around his neck. It was hard for them to resist each other. They started to kiss. Dara held him tight.
Suddenly Ellen entered in the kitchen. Dara quickly pushed Wade and jumped down from the shade.
"I didn't mean to interrupt." Ellen uttered, "Just came to check if you both needed some help or not."
"We…we're okay Mom." Dara spoke up. Her heart pounded hard in her chest.
"I want to have some words with you Dara." Ellen said, "Come to me after breakfast."
"Yes mother."
"And you too Wade." Ellen looked at him.
He nodded. Ellen went out.
"I'm so dead!" Dara exclaimed.
"It's going to be alright." Wade spoke.
They both made breakfast and took it to Dara's room. As soon as Dara opened the door, she saw her mother sitting on the bed with William.
"Mother please don't get pissed off. I can explain." Dara exclaimed.
"Come sit with us you both." Ellen called Dara and Wade. They both went inside and sat on the same bed.
"Mother I want you to listen once." Dara spoke.
"Chill out Dara." William winked at Dara, "Ellen is my sister."
Wade and Dara got surprised to hear that. It meant that Ellen was a werewolf too.
"I fell in love with your father honey. My father was an Alpha and he still is. We were asked to stay away from people and vampires. I and your father loved each other so much. We couldn't resist each other." Ellen told, "We thought to get married. I talked to my father about it but he disagreed. Your granddad was so kind to accept me. He knew that I was a werewolf but your father never got a clue about it. I left my home and got married to your father. I went back to my father. He couldn't kill me so he ordered me to go away from the town and never come back."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Dara asked.
"When you were born, I knew that you were a werewolf." Ellen said, "I wanted everything to be normal but now things are so confusing."
"What do you mean confusing?" Wade asked.
"Dara is our Queen which has been told by our ancestors." William told.
"I got the clue about it by your hair when they turned to two different colors and I became sure about it when I saw you in white fur. Dara I know you killed our maid. I knew it was you when I saw you in the room eating her."
"Mom I'm sorry. I couldn't control myself."
"I know how hard it is to control when you are pregnant." Ellen spoke.
Dara's heart thudded so fast in her chest as it would just come out.
"Don't be scared honey." Ellen held Dara's hand, "The legend says that the Queen shall be pregnant before she turns into a vampire and she'll be having a warrior inside her when she fights for her people. I know how much milk your body carves these days."
"I don't know what to do." Dara cried.
"Don't worry about anything sweetie. This was all planned to be. I may lose you in this war of hate but what you'll leave behind shall be the biggest gift for me. This won't be easy honey but I know you'll do it. I believe you'll bring your people back together." Ellen got up from the bed and bowed down to Dara. Wade and William repeated after Ellen. "You are our Queen." Ellen said.
Dara got up and held her mother up to her and said, "And you are the one who gave birth to the Queen. You are my Queen mother." She hugged her mother.
"But how are we going to do this?" William asked.
"It's going to be complicated I think." Wade spoke.
"I think you should first go convince the vampires and then the wolves." Ellen mentioned.
"No, we'll bring them all together in one place and then I'll try to speak to them." Dara uttered.
"That sounds okay to me." said William.
It was evening now. Dara was staring at the sky. Wade came from behind and grabbed her from her waist, "I know you can do this love. Just don't be scared. I'll be there with you."
"I know you'll always be there for me. I don't have to worry when you're around me." Dara turned to him and kissed him.
"We should go now." William interrupted.
Dara went to her mother and hugged her, "Wish me luck Mom."
"I know you're unstoppable dear." Ellen kissed on her forehead.
Three of them went inside the jungle. Wade held Dara's hand tightly. Dara was scared. They felt as if someone else was there with them. There was something on the trees which moved from one tree to another.
"The vampires are here." William spoke.
"We should hurry." told Wade.
They were heading towards the werewolf town. They started to walk faster. Suddenly a vampire somewhere up from the sky stood in front of them. He looked scary. Three of them moved a bit backwards and there was another one behind them. Soon there were some vampires all around them.
"I don't want to hurt you guys." spoke Wade.
A vampire ran closer to hurt them but Wade rapidly picked him up and threw him away. Wade's eyes turned more golden and his skin changed color to white. His teeth grew sharper and he looked fiercer than ever. The vampires around them started to scream. These were some low pitched horrible screams with very high frequencies. Dara held her ears because she couldn't take those screams anymore. William also couldn't hear the screams. He held his ears and laid on the ground.
"We're here to see the chief." Wade instantly spoke.
Those vampires stopped screaming and a one of them spoke, "The chief ordered us to kill you." Saying this, the vampire came closer and tried to hit Dara but William quickly transformed, bit his hand and pushed him away. Another vampire attacked Wade and pushed him towards the tree. Another vampire who was a girl came to attack Dara but Dara held her from her neck and pulled her up in the air. All of the others stopped fighting and started to see Dara. Dara looked scary. Everyone could see her golden eyes shine and her skin turning pale. Her sharp long teeth could be seen clearly.
"This doesn't have to be like this." Dara shouted and threw the vampire away. Another vampire came to attack Dara but Dara held him too from his neck and then another one came to her and she held him too from his neck.
"I'm not here to fight." she threw both of them away, "I'm here to make things better."
Soon they started hearing the wolves.
"We should go now." Wade uttered.
Three of them ran. They ran as fast as they could. William was still not transformed back into a person. Two vampires and a wolf ran together through the jungle towards the sea. When they reached the beach, they stopped and turned around. They saw the vampires and the wolves behind them. The chief of the vampires and the Alpha was also there. William growled with anger.
"Bring them here." the Alpha ordered. Some of the wolf men brought William's and Wade's friends in front of them tied up in chains.
"I want you to listen." Dara exclaimed, "This isn't the future planned for us."
"What do you mean us. You aren't one of us." the chief of vampire uttered.
"You all will have to pay your lives for what you all did, for betraying your kind and helping a creature who's not even a complete wolf, vampire and a human." the Alpha spoke in a loud voice. He took a step further to fight against them and suddenly a wolf attacked him. It had its claws on top of Alpha's chest and it growled in anger.
"Daughter." Alpha's eyes filled with tears.
It was Ellen. She moved away from the Alpha transformed back into a human. Dara ran towards her mother and put on her jacket on her mother.
"You shouldn't be here Mom." Dara hugged her mother.
"What?" the Alpha got shocked, "She is your daughter."
"Yes! She's your granddaughter father." Ellen spoke.
"What is this happening?" the chief of the vampire interrupted, "You broke the rule. You were supposed to kill your daughter. You lied to your people."
"I couldn't do that." the Alpha shouted while he cried.
"You are the one who actually betrayed his people." the chief spoke and came to attack the Alpha but Wade suddenly came in front of the chief.
"So now you want to fight me?" the chief exclaimed and held him hard from his shoulder.
"This is not about fighting. It's about living together." Wade spoke.
The chief threw him away but Wade didn't fight back.
"Come fight!" the chief shouted and ran towards him and hit him. Wade still didn't fight back instead William came and held the chief back.
"We are one. There's no war between us." Wade exclaimed.
The chief ordered the vampires to attack. There was a chaos everywhere. Everyone fought. Vampires against werewolves. Dara stood still seeing her people fighting. She didn't know what to do. Suddenly a vampire threw a big steel pointed rod towards Dara but William came in the way to save her and the rod went through his chest.
"No!" Dara shouted and held William in her arms. She screamed. She screamed so hard that the vampires could also not bare her scream. Everyone held their ears with their hands and kneeled down on the ground.
Dara stopped screaming and looked at William with the eyes filled with tears. William transformed back into a person. Blood came out from his mouth. Everyone looked at Dara that how can she be so powerful.
Dara held William's hand and put it on her belly, "Can you feel him?"
William smiled, "Take care of my cub."
"We'll take care of him together." Dara cried.
"Dara before I go, I wanted to tell you that I love you so much." tears rolled down William's eyes.
"You're going nowhere. This cub needs his father to be with him."
Wade came running towards them, "William!"
"Hey champ!" William chuckled.
"Let's take you to a doctor." Wade spoke.
William held Wade's hand and then Dara's hand. He put them in one another, "Take care of him Wade and take care of my child. You're his father now. I want you both to stay together no matter what."
"William nothing's going to happen to you!" Wade exclaimed and held William's face but William was dead now. Wade held him to his chest and cried loudly. Their friends who were tied up in chains came running towards them. Everyone stood still looking at them.
Dara was angry now. She stood up and shouted, "Is this what you all want? Is this the worth of Queen's words? The rules you're living on aren't made by the Queen. These rules were made by you. The Queen wanted her people to be together. She wanted everyone to live happy together. You all put her in a curse and she's still under the curse, still waiting for the time when her people will wake up from the nightmare they're living. I am having a cub inside me and you all killed his father today. My cub's an orphan now just because of his own people. Is this what you all talk about being together? I thought I could change things but I was wrong. I tried to make things better but you all wanted to kill me and the ones who helped me are tied up in chains." Dara transformed into a wolf. The clouds came and it started to thunder. It was storm everywhere.
Everyone was shocked to see that Dara was a big white wolf as was told in the legend. Dara howled and her fur lifted in the air. She glowed.
"Kneel down the Queen." Ellen uttered in a loud voice.
Everyone bowed down on their knees.
"I knew it was you." someone spoke.
Everyone looked up and they saw Queen Eve bowing down to Dara. Dara transformed back into a human and ran towards Queen Eve. She held her up and hugged her. The Queen put her shawl on Dara.
"I'm so glad I met you." Dara cried.
"And I'm glad I met you." Queen Eve smiled.
"Queen Eve!" Ellen exclaimed.
"Come here Ellen. You're a part of my family."
Ellen ran towards the Queen and hugged her.
The Queen turned to her people and spoke, "All these years I've been alive looking at how horrible my people were. How horrible they were fighting against one another and killing one another. If it wasn't because of you, William had been alive right now. Your mistake kept me under the curse for so long but today William's sacrifice opened your eyes and broke the curse. He will always be remembered and will be a legend. I am not your Queen." She uttered and pulled Dara towards her, "She is your Queen. Listen what she says. Do what she asks you to do. Kneel before her because she is the change. She is the one who woke you up. She is the one who gave this war an end." The Queen started to fade away in grains slowly. She turned to Dara and said, "I've to go granddaughter. The curse is broken."
"Please don't go." Dara hugged Queen Eve. The Queen faded away. Dara turned to her people. The Alpha came in front and spoke, "I was so blind to see what was wrong. I'm sorry your majesty."
The chief of the wolves also came in front, "I want to make things better together."
The Alpha and the chief hugged. Dara felt good seeing that everyone was back together. Dara smiled at her mother. Ellen was happy too. Everyone was happy.
Wade came walking towards Dara. Suddenly the clouds thundered. Dara ran towards Wade and pushed him away. The lightening stuck Dara.
"Dara!" Wade shouted and ran towards the place where the lightening stuck. It was all destroyed at that place. Nothing but ashes.
"Dara!" Wade cried endlessly and picked up the ashes.
Ellen came running towards him and held him tight. They both cried.
Months passed. Everyone lived happy together. The sacrifice of William changed what couldn't be changed years ago. Wade lost his closest friend and the one whom he had loved all his life, as it is said that you can't achieve without losing something.
The doorbell of Wade's house rang. He opened the door and found a basket in front of the door. He picked it up. It had a small card on top of it which read, "You know who his father is." He pulled off the cloth and it was an adorable baby inside the basket. It was a baby boy. Wade quickly went out and looked here and there to see if Dara was there but she wasn't there. He knew it was Dara's son because he could smell Dara's fragrance from the baby.
"I know who his father is." Wade smiled while looking at the baby, "I am."
