Dara felt relaxed after spending time with William. Her problems were not yet solved but she felt tension free. "Should I tell everything to William?" she thought, "But I don't want him to think that I'm a monster. What if he leaves me after I tell him the horrible truth about me?" Dara kept on think the same thing, "And if I don't tell him it'll mean that I'm betraying him." She sighed, "I'll tell him when we meet next time."
Dara felt hungry and went upstairs to eat. She had a sandwich. She went outside in the garden to sit with her grandfather.
"Need some company?" she smiled.
"Hello dear!" Stephen greeted her, "Come sit with me for a while."
Dara sat on the chair, "Where have you been?"
"You know how dangerous it's now getting to go outside because of the wolves. People of the island want to hunt them down. So I called a small meeting to tell them all that we can't kill the wolves."
"But why not?"
"Well, I don't know if you'll believe me or not. Thousands of years ago, there were no humans on this island but there was still life here, the life of vampires and werewolves. Your very great grandfather was a pirate. He robbed ships and boats. He had a big crew. His ship somehow crashed on this island. The werewolves ate his crew and the vampires also sucked the blood out of them. Your grandfather was saved by one of the werewolves. That girl fell in love with him on her first sight. She was the queen. She promised his security on the island. She wanted your grandfather to stay but he couldn't because it was very dangerous for him to stay there. At that time, the queen made a deal. It was ordered that mankind shall start living on the same island with them but there were two rules made. The first rule was that no human shall be allowed in the jungle. If he goes, he'll die. And the second rule was that it was forbidden to hunt the wolves or kill the vampires. Your grandfather told nothing about the vampires to the people but he did tell them about the wolves. So this is how life started here."
"So are werewolves and vampires still alive?" Dara questioned.
"No sunflower, they gradually decayed but there still are wolves in the jungle but those are just ordinary wolves."
"And what shall happen if we break the second rule?"
"Well it was decided that all the mankind on the island shall be killed."
"But you told that the werewolves and the vampire are all gone then who cares about what was decided?"
"I'm not sure Dara if they are gone or not but I haven't heard anything about them in my life. We can't take chances to risk our lives."
"So did the queen marry the great grandfather?"
"No, she didn't. She died a year after everything was done."
"I don't know about the vampires but I think that werewolves are still alive."
"How do you know? Have you seen any?"
"No I haven't but I get this really strong vibe that they are still here."
"Where is your bracelet? I asked you to keep it with you all the time."
"I…I put it in my drawer. Sure will wear it as soon as I go back to my room."
"You need to wear that bracelet. It'll keep you safe."
"Yes granddad I will wear it I promise." she said this but thought, "Charles told me that it'll hurt me because I'm a werewolf. I've promised granddad now. I have to wear it anyways."
"I have to go get some sleep now sweetheart. I'll see you at the dinner." Stephen said while he got up from his chair.
"Sure granddad." She smiled at his grandfather.
She was gazing at the flowers when her phone rang, "Hey Ashley!"
"Hello Dara. How are you?"
"I'm great and I hope you're good too."
"I called to tell you about the party at Jack's mention."
"I don't even know who Jack is." Dara chuckled.
"He's a student from chemistry class. His parents went on a trip to Miami. He threw a huge party tonight and everyone is invited."
"I'd love to come. I'll be there if I can."
"It'll be a blast. Okay take care. Bye."
"Bubye!" Dara hung up. "Finally another party. It'll be helpful for me for not to think on my strange problems." she thought. She got up and went to her room. "I should clean this up." She cleaned her room. She cleaned all the red petals form the floor. She picked up the candles and put them back to where she found them. She arranged her bed sheet and sat wondering about how much she loved William and how much he makes her feel special.
"I haven't taken a shower yet." she realized. She got up and went in the bathroom.
After dinner she came to her room and waited for her grandfather to sleep. The first thing she did after coming to the room was that she wore that bracelet again. She didn't ask her grandfather to go to the party because she knew he won't allow her. She thought it was easier just to sneak out from her window.
She called William, "Hey Will!"
"Hey love! How are you?"
"I'm good as long as you're by my side." Dara uttered, "Do you know about Jack's party tonight?"
"Yeah I do. Are you coming?"
"Well I was wondering to go if you come too."
"Dara I'm a bit busy with my mother these days. She's a little sick. Sorry I can't come."
"Oh! I hope she gets well soon."
"You are also not going at the party."
"Why not?"
"It's dangerous out there Dara."
"But…"
"You're not going. End of the story."
"Huh okay I won't go."
"Take care love. Goodnight."
"Goodnight!" Dara hung up. "Well, no party for me tonight." Dara sighed.
After sometime Ashley called her, "Dara where are you?"
"I'm home why?"
"Aren't you coming?"
"No I don't feel like coming."
"Dara you can't miss this one. This one's a blast girl."
Dara really wanted to go to the party at first place. "William won't be in the party then how he will know if I went there." she thought. "I'll be there in a bit." Dara hung up.
She changed and sneaked out to the party. She stopped walking at a corner of the street and called Ashley, "I don't really know where the party is."
"Tell me where you are. I'll come pick you up."
"I'm here at the corner of my street."
"Okay I'm on my way." Ashley hung up.
Dara waited for Ashley. It was cold outside. She was all alone on the street. There was silence everywhere. Dara felt afraid. After about five minutes, Ashley arrived on her bike.
"Hop on girl! We shouldn't be out here for long." Ashley uttered as she reached.
Dara sat on Ashley's bike and they rode to Jack's house. His house was big. It also had a swimming pool. Girls and boys were all over the place. Dara went inside. She danced with Ashley as the music played. Suddenly Dara saw William standing and talking with his friends.
"Why did he lie to me?" Dara thought. She went to William and asked, "You told me you were not coming."
"I told you not to come. What are you doing here?"
"Why did you lie to me William?"
"Dara I don't know how to tell you. It's complicated."
"Don't give excuses William."
They started to hear wolves howling.
"I've to go Dara."
"You know what William, I'm done with you!" Dara exclaimed in anger and went at the backside of the house. "I should've known he didn't like me." she sobbed.
"You really need to smoke right now." a black girl sat beside Dara. They both were alone outside at the back of the house.
Dara looked at her and uttered, "I don't really smoke."
"Come on girl. Have some of it."
"No, I'm okay."
"Trust me girl, this will help you live the moment."
Dara looked at that girl and took the cigarette from her hand. She held it to her mouth and inhaled the smoke. She coughed.
"Easy girl." That girl said, "Now throw it out like this."
Dara threw the smoke out.
"Yeah you're doing great." the girl spoke.
Soon Dara could smoke easily and it made her feel better.
"So let me guess, boys issues?" the girl asked Dara.
"I don't really care." Dara sighed.
"You know I was a victim too once." the girl told, "but then I thought to live the moment for myself not for the one who never cared."
"Yeah you're right." Dara spoke.
They both smoked the cigarette.
"I'm Dara by the way."
"I'm Maria."
"Nice to meet you." Dara smiled.
Ashley came outside too, "What are you girls doing here. The party's inside."
"I was just telling Dara to live her life for herself." Maria told.
"Dara I feel really sad for you but William is like this. He never cared about any of his girlfriends. He once ditched me too."
"I don't really care." Dara sighed.
"Let's go inside and enjoy the party." Maria spoke.
"You both go. I'll I need some time alone." Dara said.
Maria and Ashley went inside the house. Dara sat alone outside enjoying the view of the moon. She started feeling weird. She was about to transform into a wolf. She tried to control it but it didn't help her much.
She went away from the party. She ran towards her house. On her way hair started growing on her body. She focused and controlled it but the same thing happened again and again. Suddenly a wolf came in front of her. It stared at her. Dara got scared but then she wanted to touch it. As she held her hands close to the wolf, she started to transform again. She took a step back and started to run again. She could hear wolves howling from behind. When she turned around, she saw the same wolf looking at her. It was calm. It howled. Dara could see more wolves coming from a distance. She got petrified but then the wolf whom she met ran towards the other wolves and took them someplace else. Dara was safe to go now.
When she reached her house, she saw a cat passing by. Now she couldn't control herself. She took off her wig and clothes in the garden and transformed into a wolf. She chased that cat. She ate every bit of it. She like it but the human tasted much tastier. After having her meal, she transformed into a girl, grabbed her wig and clothes, and went inside her room.
She looked at herself in the mirror. Her mouth was covered with blood, "I really am a monster." She washed her face, brushed her teeth, changed her clothes and fell down on her bed to sleep.
