Chapter 43: Chapter 43: The Door

After a few days of silence, Grayson convinces himself to drive by Jude's house late one night.

"It's perfectly normal," he tells himself. "He won't even know I'm there."

Now, he's parked across the street, nervously drumming his steering wheel.

He couldn't help but think about what Amelia had said. Maybe he's had time to cool down. Maybe he's waiting for Grayson to give him closure.

Closure. It wasn't what Grayson wanted, but if there was a way for him to ease the pain he caused, he would do it.

He doesn't move. Why was this so hard? He was nowhere closer to finding his client, and desperation was starting to grip onto him.

The man that he loved was right there, and he was doing nothing about it. He was a coward, unwilling to face rejection, so he ran away instead.

Running was just easier. It had always been the best way out for him. It meant he didn't have to face his reality; he could find somewhere else where things were better.
