"It's not that, I promise." Grayson chuckles for the first time all day. "We wouldn't do that to you. But Jude's being stubborn about you not knowing until he has it under control."
"Level with me, Carter. Should I be worried?"
"I don't know. I'd be a little worried first, and then when you're tired of that, you can move to p*ssed off for a bit, and then you can settle on gratitude."
"Is that what you did?"
"Uh, no. I'm pretty sure I've skyrocketed straight to numbness, but that's just the most productive thing for me right now."
