Chapter 2: Rebirth - Part 2

The next morning Oliver exits the mansion zipping up his jacket when he is called over by his mother who is standing in the driveway with Walter and another man. "Oliver," Moira says excitedly grabbing Oliver's hand and leading him to the other two men. "I wanna introduce you to someone, John Diggle," She says gesturing to the man next to Walter. "He'll accompany you from now on,"

"I don't need a babysitter," Oliver says frowning. "Darling, Oliver's a grown man. If he doesn't feel like he needs armed protection--" "I know, I understand but this is something I need," Moira cuts Walter off looking at Oliver. Oliver looks at Mora and sees the stubborn look in her eyes. He glances back at John and sighs resigned nodding his head.

In the backseat of a black sedan, Oliver leans back looking out the window, "So...is it Diggle or Dig for short?" Oliver asks casually glancing at Diggle in the driver seat. "...Whichever one will do, sir" Diggle says after briefly glancing back at Oliver. "You're ex-military?" Oliver asks distractedly as he sneakily opens the car door. "Yes, sir. 105th Airborne out of Kandahar, retired," Diggle answers succinctly nodding his head. "Been in the private sector--"

Oliver doesn't catch the rest of what he is about to say as he stealthily exits the car, closes the door behind him, and ducks into a roll all in one motion without Diggle even realizing something is a miss.

Oliver walks down a sidewalk with a duffel bag in hand and a backpack on his shoulder. He stops in front of his dad's old steel factory. He looks around to make sure the coast is clear then tosses the duffel bag and backpack over the locked gate and climbs over the gate. He picks up his bags and walks over to the warehouse.

"Had some trouble losing your babysitter?" A woman with blonde hair in a ponytail, and blue eyes with thick-rimmed glasses over them. Dressed in a dark blue leather jacket over a black top, blue jeans, and black high-top sneakers. The woman is standing by the entrance of the warehouse with various boxes next to her. "Is that everything?" Oliver asks standing in front of her and looking at the 4 boxes.

"Yep. So you better get to work arrow boy," The woman smirks pushing her glasses up. "So your not gonna help?" Oliver asks as he opens the warehouse doors glancing at her. "Delicate old me, doing such hard labor? Perish the thought," She says dramatically. Oliver just stares at her unamused. "Your no fun," She sighs and takes off her jacket picking up a box. "Your ass is still amazing," Oliver compliments as she walks by him into the warehouse. "I know," She says giving him a wink over her shoulder.

After hours of breaking down walls and clearing out some more space for the workout area, armory, and computer network system. They stand next to each other as Oliver flips a switch giving power to their secret base 'The Quiver'. "Oh my babies," The woman coos walking over to the computer system and taking a seat in her chair, and starts setting up the systems for their vigilante work.

Oliver chuckles taking off his shirt and walking to the salmon ladder. "Oh, me likey," The woman says stopping her work and watching Oliver as he stretches his muscles and then starts his exercise on the salmon ladder. "God, he is doing that on purpose," The woman says breathily face flushed biting her lower lip and eyeing him lustfully.

After finishing his exercises. He picks up his wooden case and places it on a table, he unlocks the padlock and takes out a recurve bow and a quiver. He stocks the quiver with arrows and puts it on. "Hey, can you toss a few of those tennis balls," Oliver says to the woman who eagerly gets up and takes a handful of tennis balls from a bag. "You ready," She asks to which he nods.

She tosses the 6 tennis balls in front of him and stands back. Oliver strafes to the right hitting every tennis ball dead on impaling them into the wall of his makeshift archery range. "Looks like you still got it," The woman says playfully patting his butt. "How about a little sparing session before we go after Adam Hunt," Oliver asks the woman as he takes off his quiver and puts down his bow. "Sure why not," She shrugs and walks to the training mat, and takes off her shirt, leaving her in a sports bra. "I always like it when you manhandle me," She smirks stretching.

"So I wanted to ask, should I just call you Bobbi or Felicity?" Oliver asks standing on the training mat in front of her watching her stretch. "Well since I'm Felicity Smoak now. It would make sense to call me Felicity, but you can still call me Bobbi," Felicity shrugs her shoulders and gets into her fighting stance.

"If people ask we can just say it's a special nickname," Felicity says flexing her hands. "I gotta ask what's your codename," Oliver nods getting into his fighting stance. They stare at each other for a moment both of them smiling lovingly at each other."...MockingBird" She says and they both rush at each other and clash in the middle.

In an underground parking lot, Adam Hunt and three other men are walking to his car. "Remind Grell I put him on the bench. I can take him off," Hunt says to the man walking next to him. "I will turn him into a cautionary tale," Hunt threatens. "Yes, Mr. Hunt," The man says nodding his head. "And this attorney, Laurel Lance? You said she wasn't gonna be a problem anymore. I told you to fix that situation," Hunt stops and looks menacingly at the man.

"Why are you still here?" Hunt growls stepping closer to the man, who quickly turns and walks away. Hunt and his two bodyguards continue walking to his car. The light overhead explodes in sparks startling them. They look around shocked and confused. One of Hunt's bodyguards grunts in pain from an arrow shot into his shoulder and falls to the ground. "Get in the car!" Hunt's other bodyguard exclaims pushing him into the car.

Hunt's remaining bodyguard turns and shoots randomly in the direction the arrow came from. "You missed," MockingBird says from behind the bodyguard and vaults over the roof of the car wrapping her legs around his neck and taking him down. Green Arrow shoots an arrow through the car window shattering it. He grabs Hunt by the back of his collar and pulls him out of the broken window dropping him to the ground.

"What? What?!" Hunt says frightened holding up his hands. "Just tell me what you want," He begs looking between MockingBird who is now casually leaning on the car and looking down at him, and Green Arrow who has an arrow notched and bow aimed at him. Green Arrow picks him up by the collar and says threateningly, "You're gonna transfer $40 million into Starling City Bank account... 1141 by 10 p.m. tomorrow night,"

"Or what?" Hunt says defiantly. "Or we're gonna take it. And you won't like how," MockingBird says sweetly smirking at him. Green Arrow pushes him against the car and walks off. "Will be seeing you tomorrow Hunt," MockingBird sneers walking past him. Hunt stands up and straightens his suit yelling, "If I see you again, you're dead,". "What a charmer," MockingBird drawls and tosses down a smoke bomb and Hunt watches as Green Arrow and MockingBird disappear.

Oliver walks to his car dressed in a two-piece black suit but with the top button open. He opens the door to the back seat and comes face-to-face with Diggle, "Put on your seatbelt, sir," Diggle says tersely. Oliver stares blankly at him and then chuckles in disbelief. "Wouldn't want you to miss your party," Diggle smirks. Oliver smiles amused and gets in the back seat next to Diggle.

Oliver looks around at the party Tommy planned out. The loud music, party lights and exotic dancers, and hordes of guests. He walks down the stairs and glances at his phone showing a timer with 56 minutes left. He pockets his phone when he sees Tommy noticing him and calling for the music to stop. "Everybody, hey! Man-of-the-hour!" Tommy yells as the crowd cheers. "Whoo! And, ladies, please give this man a proper homecoming," Tommy says to a bunch of girls who walk up to Oliver and grab his arms leading him into the party as the music starts back up.

"Thank you very much, everybody," Oliver exclaims standing on a platform as the crowd cheers. "Ollie Ollie Ollie," Tommy says giving him a shot of tequila. "I missed tequila," Oliver shouts after downing his shot. He raises his glasses hyping the crowd up and gets down from the platform giving Tommy a high five.

Oliver stands by the bar ignoring the brunette that is trying to get his attention. After a moment of realizing she is getting nowhere, she walks away. "Now, by my rough estimate, you have not had sex in 1389 days. So I really don't get why you didn't give that girl the ol' Oliver Queen charm," Tommy asks coming to stand next to Oliver. "Not interested," Oliver says with a tight smile.

"How about Carmen Golden?" Tommy nods to a group of girls dancing on a raised stage. "Which one is she?" Oliver asks giving them a half-hearted glance. "The one who looks like the chick from "Twilight."," Tommy says. "What's "Twilight"?" Oliver asks confused. "You're so better off not knowing," Tommy says with a secretive smile. Oliver keeps looking around the party and notices Thea buying drugs from some guy. "Back in a minute," Oliver excuses himself and walks up to Thea.

"Ollie, hey! This party is sick!" Thea says cheerfully as Oliver guides her away from her friends. "Who let you in here?" He asks snappily and discreetly pickpockets the drugs from her handbag and puts it in his pockets. "I believe it was somebody who said, "Right this way, Miss Queen."," Thea smiles. "Well, you shouldn't be here,"

"Uh, I'm not 12 anymore," Thea scoffs. "No, you're 17," Oliver says sternly and he can already see that glazed look in her eyes clearing up as she gets defensive. "Ollie, I-I love you, but you can't come back here and judge me, especially for being just like you," Thea frowns at him. "Look I know that these past years couldn't have been easy for you, with dad and me gone--"

"Gone? You were dead, Ollie. I went to your funerals. Mom had Walter, and I had no one. You guys all act like it's cool, let's forget about the last 5 years. Well, I can't. For me, it's kind of permanently in there, so I'm sorry if I turned out some major disappointment-". "Hey, look at me," Oliver says softly placing his hands on her shoulders and giving her a gentle squeeze. "I could never be disappointed in you. You are so strong Thea, and I'm so proud of you," Oliver says and watches as tears fill her eyes. "I know I was not the best role model, and I don't want you to turn out like me, Speedy. You're so much better than me in every way. You're my light Speedy,"

Thea stared at Oliver surprised as a few tears rolled down her cheeks. "Please don't turn out like me. You can be better," Oliver says softly hugging her. Thea hugs him back sniffling a bit. "Find someone sober to take you home," He says kissing her temple. Thea stares at him wiping away her tears and nods with a soft, "Okay,". She turns and walks towards the exit of the party. Oliver sighs and walks to the trash can throwing away the drugs. He looks up and sees Diggle staring at him. He gives him an amused smile and walks away.

As Oliver is looking for a quiet corner to wait out the time he bumps into someone, "Oh," He looks at the person and sees it's Laurel, "You're here," He says a bit confused. "Tommy," Laurel says abruptly. "He made the point that we have too many years between us... To leave things the way we left them," Laurel says nodding. "Is there someplace quieter that we could go?" Laurel asks. "Yeah," Oliver nods and walks with her following him.

They are walking on the observatory floor neither saying anything for a few minutes. "I'm sorry about saying that you should've been the one who died," Laurel apologizes. "That was wrong," She says softly ashamed. "It's fine, I deserved it," Oliver shrugs. "My dad told me what you said and though it pains me to admit it... But you're right Sarah's death is not your fault. It was a freak accident," Laurel says with a pained smile.

"About Sarah... there's something that I've been afraid to ask, but I need to know," Laurel says stopping and looking at him. "Ok," Oliver nods. "When she died...did she suffer?" Laurel asks softly bowing her head. "No," Oliver says somberly. Oliver's phone starts buzzing in his pocket a few times. He pulls out his phone and checks it and sees the timer is up and the money was not transferred. "Something wrong?" Laurel asks.

"I asked somebody to do something for me and they didn't," Oliver sighs exasperated. "Look Laurel--" Oliver is interrupted by a blonde in a black cocktail dress hugging him from behind, "Hey there hot stuff. Didn't forget about little old me did you," The blonde says in a sultry tone. "No of course not," Oliver recognizing the familiar voice turns around smiling warmly at her. "Great. This party's been great and all but I want to have some real fun," She says suggestively fluttering her lashes at him.

"Right..." Oliver says clearing his throat. "It was nice talking to you Laurel but I've gotta go," Oliver says hastily wrapping his arm around the blonde's waist and walking away. "Bye Laurel," The blonde says sweetly with a smug grin. Laurel stares at them hurt and angry as the two walk down the stairs.

"God I hate acting like some dumb blonde bimbo," Felicity grumbles as they walk down the service hallway. "Nice dress," Oliver says looking her dress over. "Thanks," She smiles a blush coloring her cheeks. "Something I can help you with, sir?" Diggle asks standing behind a corner startling the two. "Holy shit! could you please not do that," Felicity says holding a hand to her chest. "Sorry, didn't mean to startle you, ma'am," Diggle says apologetically.

"God that makes me feel old please just call me Felicity," Felicity smiles politely. "Will do," He nods then turns to look at Oliver. "We were just on our way back to the party," Oliver says and discreetly signals to Felicity. "Right," Diggle says looking at him suspiciously. Oliver walks forward opening the door leading to the party. "Dammit, give me a second, I think my heel broke," Felicity groans annoyed crouching down and looking at her shoe.

"Sure," Oliver says closing the door and waiting for her. Diggle is standing with his back turned to Felicity staring intently at Oliver. Felicity seeing the opportunity grabs Diggle in a sleeper hold choking him unconscious. "He is gonna have some serious trust issues," Felicity giggles placing Diggle gently against the wall. "He'll be fine," Oliver smiles amused and they walk away from the party.

Green Arrow and MockingBird are standing side by side in an elevator. "We're almost there you switched off the lights?" Green Arrow asks readying his bow. "Yep," MockingBird says putting a device in her utility belt. "Been a while since I've been in the field," MockingBird says taking out her battle staves and twirling them. "Just don't get shot," Green Arrow glancing at her. "You just jinxed me. If I get shot, I'm shooting you," She glares at him.

The elevator dings and they turn to wait for the doors to open. As the doors open Green Arrow shoots the man at the far end of the hall in the shoulder incapacitating him. MockingBird throws one of her battle staves at the head of the man standing by the left middle column knocking him out. Green Arrow moves out of the elevator hitting the man on the left on the knee with his bow, as the man falls to his knees he hits him over the head knocking him out.

MockingBird takes the man on the right side blocking his punch with her one battle stave. She hits him in the ribs, the shoulders, and then across the head out cold. Oliver running knee kicks another man standing by the right middle column in the chest smashing him into the column. He grabs his head and slams him into the column knocking him out. The last man fires down the hall missing them because they quickly took cover behind different columns.

The man stands in front of double glass doors spraying his machine gun and missing them. As he empties his mag he panics and Green Arrow uses that opportunity and shoots him in the shoulder making him stumble back smashing through the glass doors. He is shot dead by his own frightened partner. Green Arrow uses the confusion to shoot the man in the shoulder. As Mockingbird quickly takes out the other man.

Green Arrow fires an arrow next to Hunt missing him. "You missed!" Hunt says smugly. "Really?" Green Arrow asks but is suddenly hit from the side by another man, but he easily blocks the punch. Hunt takes that moment to run away and yells into a walkie-talkie, "They're here,". "Are you gonna help me?" Green Arrow asks dodging a punch. "You got this handled, I'll go and welcome the guests. See you at the meet point," MockingBird says walking out of Hunt's office.

Oliver sighs and blocks another punch grabbing the man's arm and flipping them both over onto a glass table and putting him in a triangle headlock.

MockingBird looks over the railing of the stairs and sees Lance, Hilton, and a group of swat officers climbing up the stairs below her. She takes a deep breath and exhales slowly then jumps down kneeing one swat officer in the chest and sending him down the stairs. She hits Lance's gun out of his hand and punches him in the throat, and elbows him out cold. She sweeps Hilton's legs and kicks him unconscious.

She dodges a punch from a swat officer and hits his wrist her stave breaking it. She dodges a kick grabbing his leg and swinging him against the railing smashing him into it. One manages to grab her in a headlock, but she pushes back slamming him into the railing loosening his grip. She elbows him in the gut, freeing herself and stepping back and heel kicking him in the head, knocking him out.

"Mission's Over Birdie,"

MockingBird hears through her earpiece and kicks back the one more swat officer that was trying to grab a hold of her. "It was fun boys. But I got a date to catch," She says and tosses down a smoke bomb disorienting the swat officers. As the smoke clears a few minutes later MockingBird is nowhere to be found and the staircase is filled with downed swat officers groaning and writhing in pain.

"What the hell? What happened?" Quinten grunts out holding on to his throat. "We got our asses handed to us that's what happened," Hilton says holding on to his head. "What the hell kind of training did that woman get to move like that," Quinten croaks massaging his sore throat while looking at the other battered and bruised officers. "Don't know but I don't get paid enough for this shit," Hilton grumbles wincing when he feels a bump on his head.

--Break--

Oliver is sitting in front of the computer system in The Quiver watching Hunt's money get transferred to different accounts. He looks up at Felicity who comes and sits on his lap. "I bet he's not a happy camper right now," She quips watching the numbers flow. "No, he's not," Oliver chuckles, leans over, and checks out Hunt's name on his List. "One down. A whole lot more to go," Felicity says leaning her head on his shoulder. "Yeah," Oliver mutters looking down at her and kissing her softly. "Get back here you," Felicity purrs when he pulls back. She shifts so she's straddling him and wraps her arms around his neck and kissing him passionately.
