Four days later:
The ship made a berth in the docks of Vai. Rosa climbed out to the deck and took a large breath of the fresh air. The desert air was warm and heavy, while Vai was filled with a light breeze. She could see more greenery around her than in the last few days. Her legs were nervous by themselves, not wishing to move. Still, she made her way close to the plank.
‘I am back she thought as she took the first step down to the other side.’ Larose and Shaen were busy making the final arrangements on the ship.
They let Rosa come down on her own first. The people of the Vai had skin colours closer to the sand people, but their clothes were more vibrant. She observed the beautiful place. She could not recognize who was the aristocrat and who was the commoner. This put a smile on her face. ‘A fun place to live in; why did I never visit here?’
‘Because you never had the time.’ The shadow yawned.
