The Emperor sat on his chair behind a desk filled with papers. His captain of guard was standing close to him. Silent yet alert in case his lord needs him for anything. “You think so too don’t you Marcus.”
Marcus said nothing he only kept his head bowed. For the past few years his lord has gone out of control. Marcus only stayed at his side because of loyalty. Even the Emperor himself knew that given the chance many of his trusted men would plunge the sword in his throat, even the one standing beside him. Marcus would not hesitate to cut his throat. However his loyalty and promise keeps him by his side forever protecting his Emperor.
“You are as silent as always Marcus.” He chuckled and grabbed the glass of drink with his other hand downing it totally in one breath.
“Who am I fooling you are someone without any descendant or line.” The mocking voice did not shake Marcus. He only remained still like a corpse.
