Chapter 1: What Does It Feel Like When the Apocalypse Arrives

"What?"

"The apocalypse is here, and I've become the last man on earth?"

"Lying in a luxurious mansion, shamelessly indulging with the stunning beauties I've long dreamed of…"

Ethan, who had recently graduated, woke up from his dream, panting heavily. Looking around, he found himself still lying in his rented apartment and sighed deeply:

"So it was just a dream!"

But the dream had been so exhilarating that Ethan couldn't help but savor it a little longer.

For some unknown reason, most people in the world had disappeared. The entire city was in chaos, overrun with ferocious zombies and strange beasts. Ethan had become the last man in this world.

Faced with zombie attacks and on the brink of life and death, Ethan's eyes suddenly mutated, granting him x-ray vision and a photographic memory.

Like a scanner, his eyes could clearly capture and record everything he saw, storing it in a cloud-like database in his brain.

Moreover, every event from the past twenty years of his life surfaced vividly in his mind.

At the moment when a zombie was about to bite off his neck, the Muay Thai moves from the violent movie "Fists of Fury" that he had recently watched appeared in his mind.

Using these fierce and domineering moves, Ethan killed one zombie after another, eventually saving his stunning roommate, Amelia.

After the apocalypse, Ethan used his powerful abilities and unique charm to win her over.

Damn it, the dream ended!

Isn't that frustrating?

"Why does this damn dream always end at the crucial moment?"

Although he was no longer sleepy, Ethan immediately closed his eyes, got back under the covers, and tried to force himself to sleep, hoping to continue the beautiful dream.

"Ding, ding, ding…"

Just as he got back under the covers, his phone alarm went off. He checked the time; it was already 8:30 in the morning, leaving him only half an hour before work.

"Forget it, better get up and make some money. Dreams are fun, but being late is a death sentence."

Ethan sighed, got up, gave himself a pep talk, quickly washed up, and then headed out to wait for the elevator.

"Huh? Something's not right. Why are there so few people waiting for the elevator?"

At this time of day, the elevator was usually packed, and he often had to wait through several cycles to get on.

But today, there was no one in the elevator.

Since his company was close to his apartment complex, Ethan usually walked to work.

After leaving the complex, he noticed something even stranger—the streets were completely deserted.

"It's Monday, why is there no one around? Did everyone achieve financial freedom overnight?"

He walked a few more steps, and the scene became even weirder. Cars were parked haphazardly on the roads, creating a chaotic scene.

"What's going on?"

The further Ethan walked, the more anxious he became, and a phrase popped into his mind:

The apocalypse has arrived!

"Stop overthinking, you still need to get to work and make money."

Ethan quickly dismissed his thoughts, but after taking a few more steps, he froze. A car beside him was shaking violently.

"Doing this so early in the morning? That's a bit much."

Just as Ethan was about to continue walking, a beautiful woman ran towards him. She had an ice-cold purity, skin as white as snow, and a perfect waist-to-hip ratio, with hips wider than her shoulders. She looked like a pure version of Kim Kardashian.

"Wait, isn't that Amelia?" Ethan suddenly realized and quickly greeted her.

"Amelia, good morning! Why are you running so fast? Going back to get something?"

"Ethan, run!" Amelia shouted urgently.

She was wearing tight fitness clothes, and as she ran, her chest bounced dramatically, like an earthquake.

"Amelia, what's going on? Is there an earthquake?" Ethan felt something was wrong but didn't know what, so he asked quickly.

"No time to explain, hurry and follow me home!" In the blink of an eye, Amelia had reached Ethan.

"What's happening, you…"

Before Ethan could finish his question, he noticed two people chasing after Amelia about twenty meters away.

Upon closer inspection, these two were not human. Their skin was deathly pale, covered in blood, their eyes dark, and their faces rotting. They looked just like the zombies from apocalypse movies.

"Zombies?"

While Ethan was still pondering, the door of the car next to him, which had just been shaking, opened. Out crawled a tall, burly man with a deathly pale face, covered in blood, and intestines hanging from his mouth.

"Holy crap, it really is a zombie!"

Ethan was instantly terrified, his legs turning to jelly as he stood there trembling.

Seeing Ethan frozen in fear, Amelia grabbed him and pulled him away. "Don't just stand there, run!"

Ethan finally snapped out of it and followed Amelia, running quickly towards their home. He asked, panting, "Amelia, what's going on? How did zombies suddenly appear?"

"I don't know either. I was just coming downstairs when two zombies suddenly chased me out of the office building," Amelia, who exercised regularly and had excellent physical fitness, managed to speak normally despite running at high speed.

"This is bad!" Ethan exclaimed, stopping in his tracks.

Ahead of them, two zombies were blocking their path.

With zombies in front and behind, Amelia looked around and spotted a black pickup truck with its door open and the key on the seat. She quickly ran to the truck and tried to start it.

Ethan watched Amelia in the car and the zombies approaching, feeling a sense of déjà vu. He wondered, "Has the apocalypse really started? Am I still dreaming?"

He blinked his eyes rapidly, trying to see if they had mutated, but found they hadn't. He didn't have x-ray vision or photographic memory, and he couldn't even remember the brand of toothpaste he used this morning.

"Vroom... vroom..."

The sound of the engine starting broke his thoughts.

"Ethan, stop spacing out and get in the car," Amelia called from the driver's seat, waving at him.

Following her voice, Ethan looked over, his eyes flashing with golden light. To his surprise, Amelia's fitness clothes disappeared, leaving nothing to the imagination.

"My eyes really have mutated!" Ethan said excitedly.
