Chapter 1: Nara and her Men 1
Nara is staring sternly at her husband Sid. He is trying to make her agree to his proposal. But she stubbornly refuses to listen to him. The two of them have been at it since the last one month. Nara and Sid are married for five years. They are both thirty-four. After dating for two years the two have married each other. Nara wants to be a mom. They have been trying to get pregnant for the past five years.
Sid is infertile. He has been undergowing treatment and trying to make Nara pregnant. Unluckily they have failed to conceive. The doctor has advised for artificial insemination. Sid does not want his wife to go through the painful process. He also does not want to see her unhappy. With Nara beside him he can live without a child. But she wants to be a mom. She dreams of being pregnant, of giving birth to her child. After giving it a lot of thought he decides on a plan to make Nara pregnant.
"Please Nara, this method to have a child will be more effective and minus the pain attached with IVF. And the child will share the gene of our family."
"I'm ready to use his sperm but only through artificial mean. How can you say it, how can I agree to it? He will also not agree to it." She agrees to half of his proposal as that way they will have a child who will share the same blood. She has been angry that Sid can think of such a thing, that he can ask her to have sex with another man, even though he is doing this to spare her the pain.
Sid takes her hands in his and implores her to understand his points. He tells her that it is hard for him too but he does not want her to suffer.
"Babe, think of it. It will all be inside the family. It is only for the sake of a child. This will also assure us about the health of our child. We know the man, that he is a healthy person." Sid is stubborn as well and continues to pester her to agree.
At last Nara tries to block his attempt with that crucial question. "What if he doesn't agree? What will you do then?"
"Will you do it if he agrees to it?" Sid replies her with that question.
Nara stays silent for a few seconds, pondering on that question. She is certain that that man will reject Sid's preposterous suggestion. That man will not agree to it even though his agreeing means their child will continue the family lineage. Nara lifts her eyes to stare at her husband. She understands his pain for his inability to give her his child. He is doing everything to keep her happy. She should try to give him a little more happiness too.
"Okay, if he agrees I'll go ahead with it." She says at last, hesitantly.
Sid almost screams like a child. She smiles at her husband despite her hesitation regarding the whole thing.
"Thank you babe." Sid hugs her. Then holding her a little away to look her in the eyes he adds triumphantly, "He has agreed."
Nara stares at him in disbelieve. Then she stammers, "Whaaatt did you sayyy?"
Sid laughs at her expression. "Yes babe, I've talked with him. He has said that for our happiness he willing to do it, that he will give us a child."
Nara does not know what more to say to Sid. One part of her husband's speech strikes her as odd. Kabir has said that for their happiness he is willing. What does Kabir means by that word 'willing'? How can he be willing to have sex with his own sister-in-law, even for the sake of a descendant of this family or for the happiness of Sid and Nara, as he has told his younger brother.
