A while after that weird dragon entered the tunnel at the base of the mountain, the splitting feeling in my brain finally disappeared. It seemed that whatever the dragon had done had fixed whatever was hurting me, so I am quite thankful. However, as soon as they walked out of the cave, they took off towards their cave, leaving me stranded on the ground, not even giving me the chance to thank them. "That's rude" I grumbled under my breath before realizing 'They are a dragon. I am a human. I'm lucky to be alive'. The horrible headache must have slowed down my thought process, now that I was back to full health, I thought about how rude I had been. A combination of my shock and pain had made me mute for most of the time since they first talked to me, and they could probably destroy the entire village in seconds so I should be very happy with keeping my life. I wouldn't mind if a dragon turned my village into a smoking crater, but I want to do it myself so I won't ask.
As I was thinking of which direction to walk, a large shadow fell apon me. Surprised, I looked up to see the dragon's shimmering silver body landing next to me. I opened and closed my mouth like a fish, my mind scrambling to work out why they had come back. They stared at me and said [Thank you]. I would never get used to words being directly put into my brain. Wait. What did they say? Scrambling to make a polite, coherent sentance, I said "Wh-what would you have to thank me for... sir dragon?" The dragon seemed to sigh silently, before saying [You don't have to be so polite if you don't even know how to be polite. As I have said before, please call me Rondu.] Oh no. I made more mistakes. Did he come here to eat me? I haven't even exacted my- no. Don't think about. You'll start crying again. Realizing I was spacing out, I looked back at the dragon called Rondu and tried to smile. "Okay, Rondu" they kept staring at me as I said this. My clothes were soaked in cold sweat as I tried to keep smiling at them. [Are you alright? You're grimacing as if you're in pain]
"No, I'm fine. Can you please tell me why you are here?"
[To thank you]
Do they know they are being extremely difficult to talk to? "Why do you want to thank me?"
[Because I learnt form magic from you, and I got my first piece of treasure]
"How did you learn form magic from me?" form magic is inherited, you can't just learn it!
[When I used Inspect on you I saw that you could change forms, I figured out how to use it. Now I can probably transform into lots of different things]
"How can you 'figure out' how to change your bone structure?" this is just ridiculous. Inspect is extremely rare; nobody is born with it and it is extremely hard to learn. On top of this, Inspect skills need the person's permission before they work, showing this dragon's skill to be extremely high level.
[I don't know. Maybe because I'm a dragon? Also, thanks for talking to me normally. I'm tired of talking like a noble.]
One after another, the dragon in front of me is saying ridiculous things. "How did you hear about nobles?"
[When I was still young and small I used to stalk human adventurers that went into the forest. I learnt a lot from eavesdropping. Anyway, is there anything I can do for you?]
"Hmmm..." I wasn't prepared for this. I won't ask them to destroy the town, so what should I ask for? They said they only have one piece of treasure so I can't get any items from them... As I don't know what they're willing to do, I'll just return the question "What can you do for me?"
[It depends on what you want,] the dragon blinked before continuing [if you want to increase your own strength, I can show you how to increase your stats faster than normal... The other option might not be that useful, but I can introduce you to some powerful intelligent monsters that might help you in battle, but they won't follow you wherever you go.]
'This is perfect!' I thought. "Then can you introduce me? I have a debt I need to pay back in blood." I said with a childish smile on my face.
[Uhhh... just to clarify, whose blood?] the dragon asked. It sounded a bit shocked.
"The townsfolk." I responded, keeping my smile
[...what did they do to deserve this?] it asked cautiously.
"Not telling you." I said.
[Fine. Follow me] it said, before walking north while nimbling avoiding the trees despite its large body.
