Chapter 33: Isekai and addiction
When I was young, I realised something about the world. Which made me more mature than most adults. The fact that from the young age of 5, children are built to grow up on repetition. Before that kids never had any ounce of repetition most of the time.
But after the age of 5, we were thrown into the cycle. Wake up, go to school, eat, more school, go home, do homework, play games, go to sleep.
It's been like this since I was 5, and going to school a year younger than everybody else didnt help. Usually everbody that went was either 1/2 - 2 years older than me.
I was insecure, and thats why my grades were so bad, I became depressesd at 8 years old. Didn't help I only had 1 friend at the time, his name was Isaiah, guy's a G. But that didn't help. I knew it repetative but didnt actually realize the severity of it untill I was 8. But that was when my saving grace appeared, in the form of a 10 minute fight scene.
Anime. My saving grace. During the weekend I was sitiing on my living room couch and scrolling youtube, when I saw my first anime clip. It was Drabon Ball Z Kai, Nappa vs Goku. And that was like a gun filled with dopamine to me. It got me addicted to watching Anime. It was hypnotism, It was the fantasy worlds and the escape from the cycle that got me, the fights, the japanese laungauge I didn't understand, comedy, romance, the story.
I never experienced, the only things I knew up to that point was Fred, Teen Titans, and Amazing World of Gumball. But this was special. I then saw 1 category that was the bait, line, and sinker. Isekai. Specifically Sao, or Sword Art Online. It was about people forced to kill and face death, and they did it and overcame at the end. It made me excited, it was enticing. It was because of the fact that these people escaped the inevitable death that Kaiyaba Akihiko falsified through the lens of a video game.
Luckily I've gotten out of my Addiction and Depression since then, and have also started taking school seriously. Although I'll still watch anime every now and again, just to check up on my favorite series. Actually what got me into writing was learning about anime Fanfic.
