Chapter 146: absolute domain

The rise of Amber Heavens was meteoric, and with it came the inevitable resentment of those who thrived in chaos and exploitation. While many smaller nations and independent territories welcomed the stability and protection Amber Heavens offered, larger kingdoms, whose power relied on the oppression of others, began to view it as a threat.

The Iron Dominion, a militaristic empire to the north, prided itself on conquest and subjugation. Amber Heavens' influence disrupted their plans to annex nearby regions, as these territories now found refuge under the protection of Lyrus and his forces. To the west, the Coalite Syndicate, a shadowy cartel of merchants and assassins, found its profits dwindling as Amber Heavens enforced fair trade practices and undermined their black market operations. Both factions saw Amber Heavens not as a beacon of hope, but as an obstacle to their ambitions.

Angered by the interference, the Iron Dominion and Coalite Syndicate formed an uneasy alliance. Their armies swelled with mercenaries, assassins, and conscripted soldiers, ready to march on Amber Heavens. Spies infiltrated nearby territories, spreading fear and attempting to rally discontented factions to their cause.

But Amber Heavens had grown far beyond the reach of their schemes. The Guardians, now stronger than any mortal force, stood ready to defend their kingdom. Each was accompanied by their loyal butler, whose power rivaled legends.

When the coalition's armies finally crossed the borders of Amber Heavens, they were met not with desperation, but with overwhelming strength.

The first line of defense was Huron, the Shield General, stationed at the southern pass. With his butler, Aegir, at his side, they created a fortress of unbreakable barriers, halting thousands of soldiers in their tracks. Arrows and siege weapons shattered harmlessly against the invisible walls of force.

To the west, Senna, the Winged Shadow, and her butler, Umbra, struck in silence. Entire battalions vanished into the night, their commanders unable to comprehend how their forces disappeared without a sound.

When the Iron Dominion's main force marched toward the central valley, they were confronted by Eydon and his butler, Ignis. A single swing of Eydon's blazing sword sent shockwaves through the battlefield, reducing even the sturdiest war machines to molten slag. Ignis, ever-efficient, dismantled enemy formations with fiery precision.

Word of the devastation reached the coalition's leaders. Panic spread through their ranks as they realized Amber Heavens was far beyond their comprehension. No mortal kingdom could hope to contend with the divine might that Lyrus had quietly cultivated.

In his unfinished mansion, Lyrus stood with Lucidus, watching the reports come in. "Let them try," he said softly. "Amber Heavens will not bow to greed and corruption. If they seek to test us, they will find only ruin."
